After losing four starters to graduation,including Indiana All-Star Gretchen Haehl,from last year's sectional championship team,the Shelbyville girls' basketball team was supposed to struggle this season.

The Columbus East Olympians ended Shelbyville Lady Golden Bears season at 15-7 with a 64-44 win in the first semi-final of the Columbus East sectional. Bloomington South defeated Columbus North 62-56 in the second semi-final. The championship game is at 7:30 Columbus East(20-2) vs Bloomington South(16-5) The winner moves on to Bedford-North Lawrence to take on the winner from the Mooresville sectional Saturday Feb. 19th.

COLUMBUS--- The girls' basketball season came to an end for Shelbyville at the hands of Columbus East in the semifinals of the Columbus East Sectional Friday, but not before the Golden Bears displayed the heart and tenacity that made this year a special one.

COLUMBUS--- Shelbyville opened defense of its Sectional 14 girls' basketball championship with a 58-41 victory over East Central Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Columbus East sectional.
