Pride Shirts For 2013
Back in 1998 we started helmet award decals for Offensive and Defensive play, the Skull & Crossbones decal and PRIDE shirts. The PRIDE shirts went by the wayside a couple seasons ago but Coach Arena returned them starting with the last half of the 2012 season. The PRIDE shirt is given to one offensive and one defensive player after each game. The player doesn't have to be the best player on the team, he is the player that particular week in practice and in the game that exhibits leadership and gives 101% of himself to help the team win.
The Decals are given under a certain criteria for each game, such as TDs, rushing yards, sacks, fumble recoveries, etc. We have 2 kinds, the Paw Prints and the Skull and Crossbones. The paw prints are for offensive and defensive performance with offense worn on the right side rear of the helmet and defense on the left side rear of the helmet.
The Skull and Crossbones is very hard to earn and is for Positive Football Attitude, such as a Pancake block or an outstanding bonecrushing tackle. They are worn on the front of the helmet. To illustrate how hard they are to get, the only players to ever get more than one in a season were Joe Hon during the 2000 season and Trevor Thome during the 2009 season.
