Jags Do It Again!

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 4, 2000 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Jaguar Varsity made it to the playoffs as the Number 1 Seed and were able to repeat as BYF Champs again in 2000. They went into the playoffs with an unblemished 5-0 record. They raised that to 7-0 as they defeated the Colts and Chargers to reach the Championship Game.

During the season the Defense gave up 2 TDs in the first game to the Chargers, and 1 TD in the second Charger game. The Offense allowed a safety against the Browns in the second game. They notched 4 straight shutouts and are averaging 26 points a game.

They defeated the Colts 26-6 to become champs again and finish at 8-0. They scored 208 points for an average of 26 points a game, and give up a miserly 3.3 points a game.

Great job players and coaches on staying focused and continuing your outstanding teamwork as we worked toward our 2000 Season goals and became the Champs again! GO JAGS! BUCKEYE PRIDE!

The 1999 Jaguars Are The Champions!!

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 20, 1999 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Jags reached the last of their goals Saturday, November 6th, 1999 as they defeated the Chargers 26-7 at Edwards Field in Brunswick. The scored twice in the first 3 minutes of the game, amassing a 20-0 lead at half-time and never looked back as they controlled the game on both sides of the ball!

Good solid line play, great play execution, fine running by our backs, and complete TEAM play all were factors in handing the Chargers just their 3 loss in the last 5 years!!

Coaches Lee Mercer, Ken Pekarek, Cleatus Varney, and Bob Morcom had these kids well prepared for the game and made the dream of bringing the Championship to Buckeye a reality!

Go Jags! We Are The Champions!!!!

To The 2000 Jaguar Players

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 13, 1999 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

I would like to tell all of the players, Jaguar Flag, Panther Flag, JV, and Varsity that it has again been great be able to coach and watch all of you grow as football players and young men. I hope that your football experience this year was an enjoyable one and that those of you that are able will return next season as we continue to expanding the program and making steps forward to be a solid part of the Buckeye Football family. Those of you that cannot return due to age or weight limits remember your experiences here and use them in the future playing football and in life. You will always be a Jaguar and you are welcome to visit practice or come to games anytime you are able to do so.

To the Jaguar Varsity players this was a special season and you earned that BYF Championship, and exhibited the kind of effort, pride, and dedication that the coaches have preached since the Jags were formed 4 seasons ago.

I am proud of all of you and it was a privilage to be the Head Coach of a great bunch of young men. Enjoy the feeling of being Champions during the off season. Next August we will come back and work hard again to defend that Championship!

To my Coaches at all the levels, you did a terrific job of getting these guys ready to play every week and I appreciate your time and dedication to coaching the Jaguars.

Finally to Assistant Coach Mercer who took the sidelines in my place those last weeks, great job Lee, you did us all proud and I am glad that you came to the program last year. Those Varsity players were ready every game and exhibited the word TOGETHER that you have talked to them week in and week out about since you have been here. I am pleased to work with you during football season.
