The 2011 Jets JV Shut Out In Championship Game

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 9, 2011 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Jets JV finished Runner Up to their nemisis the Brunswick Jets JV at Steingass Field in Brunswick on November 5th at Steingass Field at Buckeye. The Jets came into the game at a perfect 10-0 with 10 shutouts! They had defeated the Jets earlier in the season by a 13-0 count and were looking to finish it off in style but it was not to be. The Jets were held scoreless in the the entire game while the Brunswick Jets won it 12-0. It was a great season but a tough way to go our for the good guys.

Thanks to the Jets coaching staff, Dave Walker, Carman Monaco, Mark Crooks and Andrew Nigh, for their work and dedication to the 2011 JV Jets. These kids had a great season under their coaching and made another run to the Championship Game. The learned alot about football and had fun doing it. Some of them will be back with the JV Squad last season and some will move on to the Varsity Squad in 2012. That's the way the program works and that's how we have made some pretty good football players who go on to the high school level and play for the Bucks!

Posted by Dave Rea at Nov 26, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Coach's Award this year goes to Ricky Monroe, a third year JV player. The award is handed out at the annual Awards Night in November. This award is given to the player who exhibits the most effort, dedication, pride, and a positive football attitude all season long, day in and day out.

The player is selected by the coaches, and doesn't necessarily reflect the team's MVP. It is awarded for the above mentioned qualities both on the practice field and during games. Congratulations Ricky, Jets football is proud of you!

Update: Rick played his Senior season with the Bucks in 2012. He has played at the Varsity level for 4 seasons now and compiled 294 carries for 1,599 yards and 21 touchdowns for the Bucks in his career. He played both ways as he is a linebacker on defense. He finished tied for number 13 on the all time scoring list. He was named to the All Pac First Team Offense, was Co-MVP of the Bucks with former Jag Anthony Kisiday and also took home the Iron Antler Award which generally goes to a defensive player.
