The Board of Directors would like to thank the following teams who participated in the Annual Coach4Food Campaign:

  • P and G Midget Trappers
  • East Side Mario’s Peewee Trappers
  • M and M Food Market Peewee Trappers
  • Giant Tiger Atom Trappers
  • Trappers Trading Post Atom Trappers
  • Knights of Columbus Novice Trappers

Coach4Food is the largest single donation the North Bay Food Bank receives annually. The food and monetary donations each year help to fund 3-4 months worth of supplies and much needed food. The partnership between minor hockey and The Food Bank has a long history.

The Food Bank relies on Coach4Food to help sustain the organization and with the growing need within our city, the Food Bank relies on this fundraiser more and more each year.

OHL cities, including the North Bay Battalion, have joined in with Coach4Food in a program called Shut-Out Hunger. For anyone that may be confused Shut-Out Hunger and Coach4Food are the same program. Founded by our very own Tom Hedican, North Bay chose to keep the Coach4Food name for it’s local program as we are very proud to be the hometown of this province wide fundraiser- and all because one man saw a need to give back!

The partnership with the North Bay Battalion has been a great benefit to the program as they have offered as a prize for the teams who collect the most food/monetary donations- an on-ice practices for the top 3 teams who participate in the program.

This year’s initiative included a practices with the Battalion team for:

· one house team that brings in the most food (boys or girls)
· one competitive boys team that brings in the most food
· one competitive girls team that brings in the most food

And as a bonus this year, there will be a draw with the names of every team that participates in Coach4Food 2016 for: a suite during a Battalion game in 2017 with a pizza party and some Battalion give-aways for the kids.

We are pleased to announce that WFMHA has two teams that have won! Congratulations to:

East Side Mario’s Peewee Trappers who collected the most food for the house team category

Giant Tiger Atom Peewee Trappers the winner of the raffle prize. They will attend a North Bay Battalion game this year with a pizza party

We want to thank all the participants who braved the cold to participate in such a great cause.
