The 6th grade basketball team had a great season. We emphasized learning the fundamental skills of the game, footwork, and offensive and defensive concepts. We played in a lot of close games and suffered some tough losses. I hope the majority of them continues with the sport to grow and develop their skills. They will benefit from off-season workouts and hopefully off-season basketball. They are a great group of boys and I enjoyed coaching them and wish them all the best of luck.

The Varsity boys basketball team is off to a great start to the season, posting a 8-0 record at this time. The team has quality wins against CHSM, SATCH, Emery Weiner, and Conroe Lifestyle Christian. The players are working very hard and buying into what it takes to be a good team. On Monday, November 21st, the program hosted the first annual Rock Classic Basketball Tournament held by the boys varsity basketball team. The following day, history was made again with the Varsity Boys winning the championship game of the Rock Classic. Coach Harvey credits his senior leadership as the reason for the team’s early success. “Our seniors are stepping up and leading this team to victory.” The Vikings travel to San Antonio on Dec. 1 for their next basketball tournament. The players are very excited about the way things are going so far and look forward to playing their next game.

6th Grade Basketball is going well, Coach KB is excited about teaching the fundamentals of the game to his young athletes. With two games into the season, the boys are improving each week. The offense is coming together great and the boys are learning how to maneuver in the 2-3 zone defense. There are great opportunities to grow and get better as the season goes on.

The 6th grade boys basketball team finished on a strong note this season winning two out of three of their last games, with victories over St. Michael’s and Presbyterian. For many of the boys this was their first season to play basketball and learn the basic fundamentals of the game. The coaching staff is truly pleased with how far this team came from the beginning of the year until the end in terms of learning defensive responsibilities and how to move the ball on offense.

The highlight of the season came in the boys last game against Presbyterian. The team was down eight points in the second half and went on a 14-2 run to finish the game with a victory. This was great momentum heading into next year. We expect big things from these boys moving forward into next season! Go Vikings!
