The 8th grade girls basketball season has come to an end and I must say we faced many challenges and hopefully learned a bit about the importance of commitment, desire, passion, hard work and teamwork. We started off with loads of energy and desire to learn, many games in a short time frame, and few practices to prepare for the competition we faced. The Christmas Holiday came and being off for almost a month made it challenging for the New Year. The month of January was a busy month with two to three games per week. The girls played with more passion, heart and fight, trying to make the end of season TN but we just ran out of steam. The girls had a fun team social the last home game, enjoying pizza & chick-fila and the highlight was when the 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls scrimmaged each other during half-time of the JV game in the CANCER Vikings eve. Thank You parents for all your support and providing snacks & drinks for every game! We wish the girls all the best in their spring sports and getting ready for next basketball season!

The Varsity girls basketball team had a road District game last Friday against St. Pius X high school. The Lady Vikings waisted no time, jumping out to an early 41-11 halftime lead. Their full-court pressure forced St. Pius into turnovers, which were converted by our Lady Vikings. Liz M. led the team with 7 steals. Her defense in the passing lanes started the team’s fast break, which led to layups. Elisa F led the team with 20 points. Kennedy D also added 15. Freshman, Zoe G, had a career high with 8 points as well!

The Lady Vikings are back in action on Tuesday, January 24th, as they battle St. Agnes Academy (3-1) at 7:00PM. The game is at HOME, so come support your Vikings for their home district contest.

The Varsity girls basketball team had their first road district game of the season on Thursday, January 12th. The Lady Vikings traveled to Duchesne Academy and were focused on the task in front of them. From the opening tipoff, the Lady Vikings controlled the tempo of the game, and did a great job attacking the rim and creating turnovers. After opening up an early double digit point lead, Duchesne battled back to cut the Viking lead to 1. Despite the adversity, the battle-tested Vikings stuck together, and closed out a 53-41 road win. The Vikings were led by Sophomore, Kennedy D., who had 15 points.

The Lady Vikings are back in action on Tuesday, January 17th for Senior Night! Game starts at 6:00PM.

Wow the season is going fast with two tournaments (6 games), a total of 10 games behind us. We have been challenged in many ways and have been able to get two victories against First Baptist and Tanglewood. Finishing 4th place this past weekend in the Pin Oak TN & congrats to Sophie Maass in making All-TN team. We have the ability to be as strong as we want to be and if we put in the work over the holiday and come back in basketball shape, the second half of the season will be amazing. Thank You for all your support!
