News and Announcements

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

Well, in just a blink of an eye, we are more than halfway through this season, and have 3 more weeks of regular season play, and then the playoffs. I have a lot of information to put out this week, so please read carefully.

Here’s what is on the schedule for this week:

Monday 19 APRIL 5pm – 7pm = Practice outdoors on our practice field. Please dress in layers as it will be cooling off as the sun goes down.

Tuesday 20 APRIL 6pm – 8pm – Due to the impending snow that is forecasted for Tuesday morning (yes, you read that correctly), we will be practicing indoors on Tuesday in the Aux Gym. JV from 6-7pm, Varsity from 7-8pm).

Wednesday 21 APRIL – Game #7 at Shawnee Mission (Westridge MS, OPK). We will be playing away at Shawnee Mission. This is the first time we will have played this team this season. Their home field is at Westridge Middle School in Overland Park, KS. JV Game is at 5:30pm (be there by 4:45pm), Varsity game is at 7:00pm (be there by 6:15pm). I have attached directions to the field in this email. The address is 9300 Nieman Rd, OPK 66214. Expect a 30 min drive to the location.

Thursday 22 APRIL 5pm – 7pm = Practice outdoors on our practice field. Please dress in layers as it will be cooling off as the sun goes down.

Friday 23 APRIL = No practice

Next, I just wanted to remind everyone that we have hundreds of action photos uploaded into our team’s Facebook page (thank you Mike Scott). Feel free to go to the page at www.facebook.com/LSWGirlsLAX and look at the photos. There are some amazing pictures out there.

Next, some of you have been asking for the playoff schedule for the week of 10 MAY. The league has posted the schedule. The varsity team is guaranteed to participate in the playoffs, we just need to see what seed we will play as. The JV team must make the top 4 for the entire league to make the playoffs.
If you want to see what the current standings are, go to www.kcgirlslax.com and look up the standings.

Here is the playoff schedule below. Game times have yet to be confirmed, but I would expect 6pm and 8pm game times. All playoff games will be played at Westridge Middle School in OPK. There are 2 fields side by side marked with girls lacrosse lines, so they plan on playing 2 games at once when they need to.

Monday May 10th – Varsity Quarter-Finals

  1. seed vs #8 seed (#2 team from the lower division)
  2. seed vs #7 seed (#1 team from the lower division)
  3. seed vs #6 seed
  4. seed vs #5 seed

Wednesday May 12th – Varsity Semi-Finals
Winner of #1 v #8 game against Winner of #4 v #5
Winner of #2 v #7 game against Winner of #3 v #6

Wednesday May 12th – JV Semi-Finals (JV Division is for all 13 teams in the league regardless of division)

  1. seed vs #4 seed
  2. seed vs #3 seed

Thursday May 13th – Varsity and JV Championship Games & All-Metro Awards Presentations

That’s it for this week. We are doing great! So let’s keep this going one game at a time!

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

We are 40% of the way through the season, and I am excited about how we are doing. Our JV team currently sits at 1-2-1, with just about every game being a close game, whether we win, lose or tie. I believe that if we just do a couple of things differently, our fortunes will change. Our Varsity team is currently 4-0 and is in first place. Everyone is playing well and working hard. We are coming off of a landmark win against St. Teresa’s Academy. For those who don’t know, that is the first time LSW has beaten STA at the Varsity level since we started this team 10 years ago. Believe me when I say that this was something Coach Casie and I have been waiting for quite some time.

We have 2 games this week, which includes our final home game of the season. Here’s what is on our schedule for this week:

Monday 12 APRIL 5pm – 7pm = Practice outdoors on our practice field. We will be taking a team picture today before practice at 4:45pm at the game stadium bleachers. Please make sure every player is dressed in her game uniform (white jersey, skirt and game socks) for the picture. Please bring a change of clothes for practice right after the picture.

Tuesday 13 APRILFINAL HOME GAME = Game #5 vs our cross-town rival Lees Summit North at the LS West Sod Stadium. JV Game at 5:30pm (be there at 4:45 for warm ups), then the Varsity game at 7pm (Varsity be there at 6:15 for warm ups).

Wednesday 14 APRIL 5pm – 7pm = Practice outdoors on our practice field. We are scheduled for a team feeding in the parking lot right after practice.

Thursday 15 APRIL = Game #6 vs Blue Valley at the Blue Valley Sports Complex (13260 Switzer Rd, Overland Park, KS 66213) I have attached a map for those who have never been there before to help you. JV Game at 6:30pm (be there at 5:45 for warm ups), then the Varsity game at 7:30pm (Varsity be there at 6:45 for warm ups). Please make note of the later start times.

Friday 16 APRIL = No practice

That’s it for this week. We are doing great! So let’s keep this going one game at a time!

Summer Lacrosse League Annoucement

Hello Lady Titan LAX Family,

Below is an email I got today from the Director of KC Elevate. For anyone interested in playing lacrosse over the summer, or getting training from some great coaches, here’s some info for you:

Hey Coach!

It’s Kallie Muck, Head Coach with Blue Valley Titans. Hope your season is off to a great start! As you may have already heard, KC Blue Lions Lacrosse and KC Heartland have merged to form KC Elevate Lacrosse focusing on camps, clinics, programs, leagues, etc.

When I first moved back to Kansas City, I helped create an FCA Women’s Summer League for college players and adults. We had 40 women come out that first summer!! The following summer, I merged with ULAX and helped manage their girls/adult women’s leagues. I’ve helped ULAX with their girls and women’s summer leagues over the last two years. However, as the Girl’s Director for KC Elevate, I will be working on trying to bring our annual summer and winter league back to being run locally as opposed to letting an outside program run things here in Kansas City.

This summer, we will be hosting a summer league with divisions for Youth Girls (6-15 years old), High School Girls (14-19 years old) and Adults (18+)!

Girls can either register as individual players or with a team. Last summer with ULAX, I know high school teams had to provide their own coaches. With our league, if you have a group of girls who want to play but a coach from your team is unable to be there, we will be able to provide high level young women (all collegiate players) to step in and coach your girls!

The cost is $145 and includes:
5 week League | 3x pool play, 2x bracket play | (2) 24 minute halves
Certified Officials
Certified Trainer
Player Stat and Scorekeeping
League Reversible Included
You can find more information or register here: https://www.kcelevate.com/summer

If you could pass along this information to your current players as well as your alumni who may be interested in playing in our adult division, that would be awesome!! Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

***PLEASE READ - SENIOR NIGHT ***

Posted by Jay Hertzler at Apr 6, 2021 6:58AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Good Morning Lady Titan LAX Family,

I just wanted to give everyone some guidance on Senior Night festivities tonight.

First and foremost, we need to be very aware of our 100 person limit in the stands per the LSW Athletics Office guidance. This 100 person limit includes parents from Sion players. So after the JV game, all parents of Seniors will need to take the field next to your daughter. Make sure to wear a mask. I estimate that will be around 6:10 to 6:15pm.

Second, any JV parents who want to stay in the stands can do that until the Senior parents are done with the recognition ceremony, then you’ll have to clear the stands to make room for those parents. This will have us close to our limit, but with 36 parents on the field with the Seniors, we should be good. JV players will stay on the field during the recognition…once the ceremony is complete, we will ask all JV players and parents to leave so we can make sure we comply with the spectator limit.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

~Coach Jay

Lady Titan LAX Family,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. Welcome back to the grind. We will be going non-stop until the end of the season, so everyone hang on and enjoy the ride.

So, let’s talk about what’s on the schedule for this week. We have 2 tough games (although in the top division we play in, every game is tough). We have games on Tuesday and Thursday night.

Here’s our schedule for this week:

Monday 5 APRIL 5pm – 7pm = Practice outdoors on our practice field. It will be warm and windy. Also, I have heard rumor that we have a team feeding in the parking lot right after practice so we can “carbo-load” for Tuesday night’s game. Woo-hoo!

Tuesday 6 APRILSENIOR NIGHT = Our third game on the schedule, this time vs Sion at LS West Sod Stadium. JV Game at 5:30pm (be there at 4:45 for warm ups), then we’ll have Senior Night festivities, then the Varsity game at 7pm (Varsity be there at 6:00 for Senior Night and warm ups) . Due to the importance of Senior Night, many of you will want to invite additional relatives to attend the game. Just know that due to COVID guidelines, we need to stick to the 2-spectators per rostered player rule. I know this is not preferred, but we need to make sure we follow the school rules. The LAX board wants to post a parent at a table coming into the stadium to count the number of spectators coming in per player so we can make sure we are compliant. I will need a volunteer to do this. Please text me if you are willing to do that.

Wednesday 7 APRIL 5pm – 7pm = Practice. They are calling for rain. We will make every effort to practice outside, but may need to go into the aux gym due to weather, so these times may change depending on what time block we will be given for the gym.

Thursday 8 APRIL = Game #4 vs St. Teresa’s Academy at the LSW Sod Stadium. JV Game at 5:30pm (be there at 4:45 for warm ups), then the Varsity game at 7pm (Varsity be there at 6:15 for warm ups)

Friday 9 APRIL = No practice

That’s the schedule for this week. I hope all of you are excited as I am about getting this party started and getting into playing games. See y’all out there on Tuesday. Remember, please do not invite any additional spectators to Senior Night…I hate getting in trouble with the school. 2 people per player….thank you for your support on this.
