Results and Champs Disappointment

Posted by Brian Adkins at Jul 7, 2022 9:28PM PDT ( 1 Comment )

The results have been posted for the meet. Please check out the results PDF in the “Document” section on the website. The parent relay was fun, with many great pictures and memories. Please also bring the swimmer of the week signs to practice tomorrow.

I am disappointed. We only have 36 kids planning to attend the Champs meet thus far out of 110+ swimmers. With less than a day left for our teammates to sign up. This is the biggest and most important meet of the year and why we work so hard during the season. The team has been excited with how well we competed this year and only have lost two meets (record 5-2), which puts us in a strong position to compete for third. We need more swimmers and do not want to let our teammates down. Please, please, please plan to attend and complete the Google Form by Friday at 10 pm.

COMPLETE THE FORM by Friday (7/8) at 10 pm.

Secret Swimmer 2022

Secret Swimmer week begins on Monday, July 11!

Your swimmer will bring home the form to fill out if they’d like to participate this year. Please return the form to one of the coaches at practice or the meet by Thursday, July 7th. If you are unable to attend practice this week and would still like to participate, please fill out this form and return it via email at westwoodfarmsswimteam@gmail.com by Thursday, 7/7 at 9 pm. This is a firm deadline!

Form

If your child is participating, they will receive an envelope with his/her swimmer’s name in it at practice on Friday. If your swimmer(s) will not be at practice on Friday, you must pick up your envelope from the bin at 12355 Steeplechase Lane by Friday at 9 pm.

Please only sign up if you can commit to delivering one package per day for the entire week.

If you’re new to the swim team, Secret Swimmer functions much like Secret Santa. Your child will be assigned another swimmer. During the course of the week of July 11th, your swimmer will drop treats/gifts on the doorstep of their assigned swimmer each evening, Monday-Thursday. On Friday morning, at Champs practice, your swimmer will hand-deliver a treat and reveal him/herself. To give you a basic guideline, gifts like candy, gum, small Lego sets, jump ropes, $5 restaurant gift cards, hula hoops, silly string, goggles, pool toys, chalk, Sharpies, beach towels, cards, and games are all appropriate. Be creative!

The main purpose of the Secret Swimmer program is to build team camaraderie, excitement, and momentum for Champs. And to have fun!

Keep these basic guidelines in mind when selecting and delivering gifts:

  • Spend approximately $20 total for treats over the course of the five days.
  • Deliver one treat (wrapped if size and shape allow) to your secret swimmer’s house M-Th before 9 pm. Try not to get caught! Think of ding dong ditch, or just simply place it on the porch.
  • Even if you’re not swimming at Champs, try to attend Champs practice briefly to swap gifts. No one likes to be disappointed by not being able to deliver or receive a gift on this day!
  • Be sure to label your deliveries with the swimmer’s name, which is especially important in multi-swimmer households, and write some kind of message or encouragement on your gifts/gift bag.
  • You may be as creative with gifts as you’d like. For example, some families like to do swimming-related or Champs-related gifts, ie. a deck of Go Fish cards with a message like, “Swim like a fish at Champs!”
  • Send questions via email to westwoodfarmsswimteam@gmail.com
