In an era where semi-professional teams meet once or twice a week, an efficient practice is needed EVERY time a team hits the field. The average team practice is about 2.5 to 3 hours and within that time special teams, offense, defense and specific gameplanning need to be achieved. Therefore, a true coach and their staff must find a way to segment enough time to efficiently motivate, teach and execute a gameplan for the upcoming game or scrimmage they may have.....
Where am I going with this?
A lot of people do not understand the burden they cause by coming into practice late or not showing up at all. Whether you are Clinton Portis or an Average Joe, every player is a part of a gameplan that you may or may not even know. A maximized practice is not only good for the coaching staff. You as a player must challenge yourself and leave it all on the table week after week so that you know without a shadow of a doubt that you are prepared for a game. Players often question coaches about their playing time and what they want to play and how they want to play.
IF YOU DO NOT PRACTICE YOUR CRITICISM IS NULL AND VOID. The competition at this level is intense. Veterans on some of the teams in this league have played as high as the NFL and most have had some collegiate experience. Losing out a spot, or playing behind someone is not always a conspiracy against you. Take the time to look at your own actions and chances given to you such as the practice given to you on a weekly basis.
Moral of the story: PRACTICE FOR THE EXPLOSION BEGINS MAY 1ST. If you do not attend or do not show up, consider playing for another team....As a coach I want the best prepared team to go out on the field with. We are having intense practices and great camp battles this year and I personally look forward to it.
Sponsors are Needed for our 2011 Season!!
The DC Explosion is a non-profit organization that allows young men to give back to the community and continue playing that they love. As with all sports, expenses can grow quickly with success and normal daily operations. We are asking the community to help us as fans with donations of time, money and/or advice to help this organization grow. We are always willing to come out and support you in your needs and would love your support in our quest for a Championship.
This year our fundraising goal is $10,000 dollars!! The team would like to replace our old jerseys and solidify transportation for the year.
