NASA Defeated Tampa Wellswood By 13 - 12

NASA won the PONY-13 Zone Tournament just minutes before the clock struck midnight to conclude a most memorable night of Kyle Chapman baseball and a most memorable PONY-13 Zone Tournament. In the first game of the night, Pasadena and Tampa Wellswood faced off in a battle of the pitchers and defense. What follows is a summary of the scoring through seven innings of play: That's right. There was none. In fact, the game did not see it's first run until James Malley hit a walk-off solo blast to right-centerfield with one out in the bottom of the TENTH inning, to eliminate a very determined and talented Pasadena team and advance to the championship game against NASA. Pasadena pitcher Dylan Adamek and Tampa pitcher Mychal Givens traded goose eggs for the maximum allowable seven innings each before giving way to Shane Hamaker and Anthony Ferrara, respectively. Ferrara continued to blank Pasadena, registering scoreless innings in the 8th, 9th and 10th. Hamaker was on track to do the same until James Malley ended the game with his dramatic, really loooooong walkoff home run. Soooooo, after almost 3 hours of baseball, Tampa eliminated Pasadena and had about 30 minutes to prepare for NASA. Any thoughts that the second game of the night might be just like the first were quickly disspelled when Tampa held a 6-5 lead after ONE inning of play. The big blast of that inning was a grand salami by Tampa right fielder Ryan Fleming (who helped eliminate the K.C. 13's the previous night by hitting a 3 run homer to drive in the winning run in the 4-1 victory), to tie the game at 5-all. NASA nudged ahead with 2 runs in the second inning to make it 7-6 in favor of NASA. NASA added a run in the third inning with a solo blast by left fielder Casey Jennings. After 3 innings, it was 8-6 in favor of NASA. After NASA added a run in the top of the 4th to make it 9-6, Tampa struck back in the bottom of the 4th with 4 big runs (3 of them courtesy of James Malley's second home run of the night) to make the score Tampa 10, NASA 9. NASA and Tampa both posted 2-spots in the 5th inning to make the score 12-11 in favor of NASA. K.C. parents and volunteers nervously looked at their watches as the prospect of extra innings after midnight reared its ugly head. But it was not to be. NASA scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning to take a 13-12 lead on a dropped third strike, two walks, a single and a bases loaded walk to score what proved to be the winning run. Tampa did not score in the bottom of the 6th, and NASA did not score in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Tyler David, the NASA relief pitcher, picked off a Tampa runner from second, then struck out two Tampa batters to end the game and secure the victory. Congratulations to NASA on its PONY-13 Zone championship. Congratulations to Pasadena on an incredible effort in their elimination game with Tampa. Congratulations to Tampa for playing such an incredible game against Pasadena, then turning around and playing another against NASA. To all our new friends from Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana, as well as our old friends from Clear Lake-NASA and Pasadena, we hope that Kyle Chapman provided you a comfortable, pleasant, place to play the Zone Tournament, and we hope that you will return home with good feelings about your Kyle Chapman experience. To all the hardworking parents, PONY administrators and other volunteers who helped to bring this tournament to a successful conclusion, a well-said BRAVO. To Fred Chan, tournament director par excellance, and photographer to the stars, thank you for all of your hard work and dozens and dozens of hours of effort in bringing this tournament together. To Dave Carney, Brent Patterson, Ted Harris and all the other caring, hard working individuals who have built Kyle Chapman Pony League into the well-respected institution that it has become, a very sincere thank you for your years of toil and sweat.
Florida takes 10-inning thriller from Blue 13s 1-0 http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=9921270&BRD=1579&PAG=461&dept_id=181232&rfi=6 HOUSTON - With each at-bat in the extra innings by a Florida Pony all-star, David Turner was hoping he would be wrong. Crouched in front of the Blue 13's dugout, he told tournament director Duke Schneider that a home run was going to win the suspense-filled contest. The Blue 13s manager was happily wrong through the seventh, eighth and ninth frames, but in the 10th, Turner's premonition was fulfilled. Clean-up hitter Drew Malley lined a 1-2 pitch over the right center-field fence for a 10th inning walk-off home run as Florida eliminated the Blue 13s 1-0 in a Pony 13s South Zone contest at Kyle Chapman Field Tuesday night. The dramatic homer ended a terrific baseball game between 13-year-old boys from Texas and Florida, who fought tooth and nail to keep their respective seasons alive. No doubt, some youngsters in the Tampa, Florida area and here in town will be reliving this contest for the remainder of their summer vacation and well into the new school year. The butterflies in the stomach were alive and well for those fans who took in the well-played contest. "In one sense, it's a relief to all of us that it's over," Turner said. "We've been going at it for three weeks." Way back on July 7, the Blue 13s were facing elimination in their own backyard. Twenty-two days later, possibly on the final night of the baseball season for the Pony 13 all-stars, they finally were ousted. Florida played the NASA all-stars late Tuesday night for the South Zone crown. Florida had to win to force a second meeting this morning at 11. Because of the marathon game, the championship game started 45 minutes later than scheduled. "I'm pleased as I can possibly be," Turner said. "This was a great accomplishment. They (the players) gave us everything." As expected in a game that goes scoreless for so long, both managers tipped their caps to the other team. "That's a great team over there," Florida manager Larry Padron said. "There's a reason why they're state champions. They've got good players and they're well coached." This same Florida team competed in the Bronco World Series in Monterrey, Calif., last summer, earning third place after losing to a team from China. For Malley, easily the biggest and tallest player among the two teams, it was his second home run of the tournament. Up until this tournament, Malley hasn't had many chances to hit homers. "We play on a Colt field. Not too many 13-year-olds hit home runs there," said Padron, noting it's 305 feet down the lines at their home park and 319 to straight-away center. The winning hit came off Blue 13s relief pitcher Shane Hamaker, who was working his third inning. It was a tough break for the righthander. Two innings earlier, he earned his all-star stripes in a huge way. The Tampa Wellswood team had Malley on third and third and Jarryd Reid on second with none out and seemingly ready to end the game in the eighth. With the Blue 13s needing a small miracle, they got it when Hamaker reared back to strike out the next three batters, all on swinging third strikes. That started a stretch of seven consecutive batters that Hamaker retired before Malley deposited the ball over the fence. Dylan Adamek was the starter and he pitched well. "Dylan pitched his rear off tonight," Turner said. It was clear Adamek was tiring in the seventh. After the team's only error, Adamek walked just his second and third batters to load the bases. But Adamek had just enough left in the fuel tanks to get Anthony Ferrera to hit a dying quail that dropped in front of second baseman Scott Talton, who gloved the ball, before winning the foot race with Kyle Allen to the second-base bag and the dramatic inning-ending force out. Talton also ended another Florida threat in the sixth by cleanly fielding a ground ball and throwing to first. Florida starting pitcher Mychael Givens and Ferrara, combined on a six-hit shutout. Ferrara, a lefty, only allowed a walk to Aaron Baker in the 10th during three innings of work. They took us out of the running game - the pitcher and catcher," Turner said. "They knew all our trick plays. They knew how to combat that." with their potent hitting attack, were their own worst enemy on this night. "They took us out of the running game," Turner said. The Blue 13s had golden opportunities. Long before the 10th frame, the team had two players tagged out at home plate. Adamek was tagged out at home as he tried to score on a Jacob Johnson single in the first and Zach McDaniel was tagged out at home, ending a rundown in the fourth. Hamaker was picked off first base in the second and Johnson suffered the same fate at second base in the sixth. McDaniel was thrown out at third base by Florida's right fielder, who fielded a Hamaker single and rifled a throw to third in the sixth. In the seventh, Jerry Gutierrez was on second base with two outs and Adamek hit a soft liner towards Malley at first, who gloved the ball over his head. Had any shorter first baseman been there, the ball sails into shallow right field and the Blue 13s own a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh. It was that kind of night for the Blue 13s. The state champs made it memorable just as they have for all of July. ©Pasadena Citizen 2003
K.C. 13's defeated by Tampa Wellswood. The Kyle Chapman 13 year old All Star team knew it would have its hands full facing a very tough Tampa Wellswood team on Monday night at K.C. field in its second elimination game in two nights. Unfortunately, despite excellent pitching performances by Grant Haynes and Paul Knowlton, the K.C. 13's fell to Tampa Wellswood by a score of 4-1, eliminating K.C. from PONY-13 Zone Tournament play. Grant Haynes held Tampa scoreless in the top of the 1st inning. In the bottom of the first, K.C. tallied its lone run of the game when Ross Chan singled, Charles got on first on an infield error, but Ross was thrown out at 3rd, Charles stole second base, and Paul Knowlton drove him in with a timely hit up the middle to center field. After one inning of play, it was K.C. 1, Tampa 0. Grant Haynes held Tampa scoreless in the second inning, but was reached for 4 runs in the 3rd. Tampa scored their runs on a single, a stolen base, an infield error, a sacrifice fly, a single, an infield error, and a huge three run home run over the left-centerfield fence. K.C.'s defense tightened up the rest of the way and Grant and Paul did not allow any other Tampa runs. Unfortunately, the K.C. offense was also shut down the rest of the way, limited during the game to first inning singles by Ross Chan, Paul Knowlton, Pat Brosch, and Trey Hibbert, Jared Rothenberg's second inning infield single, and Andrew Burns' fifth inning walk. Thus, despite a very game effort, the K.C. 13's were eliminated from the PONY-13 Zone Tournament on Monday night. It was a very different story in Pasadena, Texas, where the Kyle Chapman 14's had their backs against the wall after losing to League City 10-3 on Sunday afternoon. In order to claim the PONY Gulf Coast Region Championship, Kyle Chapman would have to beat the host Pasadena team on Sunday evening, then sweep a doubleheader from the very team that threw them into the elimination bracket in the first place– League City. K.C. took care of business against Pasadena, scoring a see-saw 16-10 victory which would have seen a larger winning margin if Daniel Rothenberg had not been wide right on K.C. extra point attempt. The only thing standing between the K.C. 14's and the Gulf Coast Region Championship was a pair of wins in a doubleheader on Monday night against League City. In the first game, big Brett Gibson held L.C. scoreless in the top of the 1st inning. K.C. erupted for 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st on a walk to Mark Robichau, a single by Matt West, an RBI single by Jamie Reingold, and a double by Daniel Rothenberg, scoring both Matt and Jamie. L.C. answered in the top of the 2nd inning with a 3-spot of its own on a leadoff walk, a one out single, another walk, a double by catcher, Tyler Vogel to drive in two runs, and an infield single. K.C. nudged ahead in the bottom of the 2nd on a Corey Triche single, a single by Brian Borski, and an infield fielder's choice by Mark Robichau, driving in the run. Brett held L.C. scoreless in the top of the third, but K.C. blew the game wide open with 7 big runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Jamie Reingold reached first on an error by the catcher. Daniel Rothenberg walked. Sean Lamont walked to load the bases. Brett Gibson took a fastball to his huge left bicep to drive in Jamie. Corey Triche hit a timely single to drive in Daniel. Brian Borski hit a shot to center that was misplayed by the centerfielder. Mark Robichau reached base on an error by the third baseman. Matt West, who has had several clutch hits during this championship drive blasted a 343' home run to center field to drive in Brian, Mark and himself. After 3 innings of play, it was K.C. 11, L.C. 3. Neither team scored in the 4th inning. L.C. added a run in the top of the 5th on a hit and two errors to make it 11-4 in favor of K.C. K.C. run ruled League City in the bottom of the 5th inning, scoring 3 runs on back to back singles by Brain Borski and Mark Robichau, a walk to Matt West, a beautiful bunt single by Jamie Reingold, and a sacrifice fly to center field by George Murphy to drive in the 14th and deciding run. Thus, K.C. won the first game of the doubleheader by a score of 14-4. Brett Gibson was stellar on the mound, allowing only 3 earned runs on 5 hits, two walks and 8 strikeouts, to a very potent League City lineup. In the nightcap, Kyle Chapman pitcher, Daniel Rothenberg and League City pitcher Daniel Williams traded goose eggs in the first and second innings. League City drew first blood, scoring 2 runs in the top of the third for a 2-0 lead. They did it with a walk, a long double to deep centerfield, and a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher. Karl Pringle came in to relieve Daniel and got the last out in the 3rd inning on a strikeout. K.C. answered with three runs of its own in the bottom of the frame to pull ahead 3-2. Karl Pringle walked, Corey Triche reached base on an infield error, Brian Borski hit an RBI single driving in Karl and Corey, and Mark Robichau drove in Brian after two wild pitches with a sacrifice fly to center field. After Karl held L.C. scoreless in the 3rd, K.C. added 4 more runs in the bottom of the 4th. Jamie led off with a single, but was caught attempting to steal second. Daniel Rothenberg singled, advanced to second on a balk, advanced to third on a fielder's choice, and Karl Pringle drove in Daniel, Sean Lamont and himself with a huge 299 foot home run that wrapped around the left field foul pole. Corey Triche followed with a single, advanced to second on a passed ball, and scored when Brian Borski drove him home with a single. After 4 innings of play, it was K.C. 7, L.C. 2. League City scored a run in the top of the 5th on a double, a wild pitch and a single. K.C. answered in the bottom of the 5th with a run of its own on a Jamie Reingold single and a Daniel Rothenberg double to right centerfield. Karl shut down League City in the 6th and 7th innings on three srikeouts, a flyout, a lineout and a fielder's choice. You could tell that Karl was pumped when, with 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning and a runner on first, Karl mowed down League City right fielder Dusty Wegman (who had reached base three previous times during the game), on three straight strikes. And just like that, the Kyle Chapman 14 year old All Stars are District 5 Champions, Section III Champions, and Gulf Coast Regional Champions. By winning 10 out of their last 11 games, and three straight while facing elimination, Kyle Chapman's 14 year old All Stars have earned a berth in the PONY Zone Tournament in Gonzales/St. Amant, Louisiana, next weekend. To put things in perspective, the K.C. 14's are 3 or 4 wins away from a berth in the PONY World Series. Congratulations to Daniel Rothenberg on a nice pitching outing and to Karl Pringle on 4 1/3 innings of awesome relief pitching. Congratulations to the K.C. 14's players, coaches, parents, family members, and league representatives, who, through their unselfish and dedicated hard work, taken together, have made Kyle Chapman Pony League a formidable force indeed. Congratulations too, to the K.C. 13's, and their parents, coaches, family members and league representatives, who helped the K.C. 13's make a very respectable showing in the PONY-13 Zone Tournament. Kyle Chapman 14's begin Zone Tournament play on Saturday night at 7:30pm in Gonzales/St. Amant, Louisiana, facing the winner of the earlier game between the host team and the north team. This is a very tired, but very happy Scott Rothenberg, signing off, and saying, "I don't know what a boudin ball is, but bring 'em on. Laissez le bon temps roullez." That means, "let the good times roll!!!" WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to go K.C. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday is often thought of as a day of rest. It was anything but that for the Kyle Chapman Pony League's 13 and 14 year old All Stars, who both advanced in PONY tournament play. The K.C. 14's dropped a tough 10-3 decision to a League City team that played far better than it had in previous contests with K.C., but rebounded to eliminate Pasadena from the PONY Gulf Coast Regional Tournament in the nightcap by a score of 16-10. Meanwhile, the K.C. 13's faced a tough Baton Rouge Roughcut Royal team in elimination play at K.C. field 25 miles to the west. It was obvious that neither team wanted to end the PONY Zone 13 Tournament on Sunday night. However, one team had to win and advance, and one had to go home. The K.C. 13's gave up an 11-3 lead and were down 12-11 in the middle of the 6th inning, but hung on for a gritty 14-13 victory to advance in Zone Tournament play. First the 13's. Baton Rouge scored 3 runs in the top of the first on a 3 run blast over the outfield fence to take a 3-0 lead over K.C. The K.C. 13's refused to get down, however, scoring 5 of their own runs in the bottom of the inning. They did it with a Ross Chan single, a two run blast over the left-centerfield fence by Pat Brosch, and consecutive hits by Trey Hibbert, Grant Haynes, Jeffrey Rohrbach, and Andrew Burns. After 1 inning, it was 5-3 in favor of K.C. Both teams held each other scoreless in the second and third innings. K.C. added 6 big runs in the bottom of the 4th on a Jared Rothenberg single, a Ross Chan single, a Charles Mann double driving in a run, a Paul Knowlton single driving in two more runs, a Pat Brosch walk, a Trey Hibbert single, a passed ball, and a Grant Haynes double to right field. It was 11-3 K.C. after 4. Baton Rouge scored three runs in the top of the 5th to make it 11-6. K.C. did not score in the bottom of the 5th inning. The roof fell in on K.C. in the top of the 6th inning. Baton Rouge scored 6 runs on a variety of hits, walks, errors, and passed balls to make the score 12-11 Baton Rouge in the middle of the 6th. K.C. answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th on a Pat Brosch walk, a fielder's choice force by Trey Hibbert, a single to center by Grant Haynes, a passed ball, a balk and a Jeffrey Rohrbach double to left field. At the end of 6 it was 13-12 K.C. Baton Rouge scored a run in the top of the 7th to tie it up on a walk, a stolen base, another walk, and a fielder's choice. Score tied 13-13 in the middle of the 7th. K.C. had the last at bats and made the most of them. Ross Chan reached first base on a dropped third strike, Charles Mann hit a magnificent sacrifice bunt to the pitcher, advancing Ross to second, Ross stole third base, and scored on a passed ball. And just like that, K.C. eliminated Baton Rouge from the Zone Tournament by a score of 14-13. K.C. will play Tampa Wellswood in another elimination game at 6pm tomorrow (Monday) at K.C. field. Meanwhile, in the PONY Gulf Coast Region Tournament in Pasadena, the K.C. 14's had to overcome an atrocious effort in their 10-3 loss to League City and beat a tough host Pasadena 14 team in the nightcap. Pasadena scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st to make it 2-0 Pasadena on an infield error, a walk, a single and a fielder's choice. K.C. answered with 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning on a solo home run by pitcher Jamie Reingold, a single by Karl Pringle, a walk to Brett Gibson, an RBI double by Sean Lamont, a walk to Brian Borski, and an RBI sacrifice fly to center by Mark Robichau. K.C. added 2 runs in the top of the 3rd to make it 6-2 on an error by the right fielder on a George Murphy liner, a fielder's choice, a stolen base by Murphy, an RBI single by Daniel Rothenberg, a stolen base, a wild pitch, and an RBI single by Brett Gibson. Thus, after holding Pasadena scoreless in the bottom of the frame, it was 6-2 K.C. That lead was short lived, however. Pasadena scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning courtesy of a leadoff walk, a fielder's choice, a single, an RBI single, an infield error to bring in a run and a 3 run homer by leadoff hitter Abel Cernos. After 4, it was 7-6 in favor of Pasadena. K.C. battled back to retake the lead at 8-7 in the top of the 5th on a single by Jamie Reingold, a walk to Daniel Rothenberg, two wild pitches, an error by the Pasadena pitcher, and an RBI single by Brett Gibson. Pasadena tied the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the 5th inning on a leadoff single, a stolen base, a sacrifice bunt to third, and an RBI single to centerfield. K.C. refused to give up, scoring 4 runs in the top of the 6th on a Matt West single, a stolen base, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Jamie Reingold, a single by Daniel Rothenberg, a single by Corey Triche, and a horrible throwing error by the Pasadena third baseman. Brett Gibson closed out the scoring with a beautiful sacrifice bunt to score Corey from third. K.C. led 12-8 in the middle of the 6th inning. Pasadena scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it 12-10 in favor of K.C. on a walk and a 2 run homer by the Pasadena leadoff hitter (2nd homer and 4th and 5th RBI's of the game for him). Matt West came on to pitch and got Pasadena out on a terrific throw from Sean Lamont to gun down a runner attempting to steal second, a grounder to the pitcher, and a strikeout of the Pasadena cleanup hitter. K.C. added 4 more insurance runs in the top of the 7th when Brian Borski reached on an error by the third baseman, Mark Robichau reached on an error by the pitcher, a Matt West RBI single, a Jamie Reingold RBI single, a Corey Triche single and a Brett Gibson RBI double. In the middle of 7, it was K.C. 16, Pasadena 10. Matt West finished his masterful relief effort, striking out the first Pasadena batter in the 7th, walking the second on a 3-2 count, striking out the third batter, and inducing the final Pasadena batter to hit a fly ball to short right field. Daniel Rothenberg could not decide whether to slide or dive for the short fly, so he slived for it, the ball nestling in his glove just above grass level to seal the victory. By winning tonight, K.C. 14's earned a second shot at League City at 6pm tomorrow (Monday). If they win that game, they turn around and play League City at 8:30pm tomorrow for the Gulf Coast Region Championship. This is a very tired Scott Rothenberg saying, "gee, I should have asked for more minutes on my cellular phone this month," and I look forward to seeing you at the ballparks tomorrow (Monday). Congratulations, K.C. on two hard fought victories... good luck tomorrow (Monday)!!! Goooooooooooo K.C. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Kyle Chapman All-Star teams had mixed results on Saturday. The K.C. 14's beat NASA, 8-7, in the opening game of the PONY Gulf Coast Region Tournament, in Pasadena, Texas. Meanwhile, the Pasadena 13's came to Kyle Chapman and beat our 13's by the final score of 8-4. In the 14's game, big Brett Gibson took the mound and held a very potent NASA lineup to 1 unearned run in 5 innings of play before K.C.'s relief pitchers made it exciting, allowing 6 runs in a wild top of the 7th inning. Finally, Karl Pringle came on in relief to earn the save on a popout to left field and a crucial strikeout stranding the tying run at third base. The K.C. 14's drew first blood, striking 3 times in the bottom of the first inning. They did it when Mark Robichau was hit with a pitch, Matt West walked, both runners advanced on a passed ball, George Murphy drove in a run with a short grounder, Jamie Reingold drove in Matt West with a single, and after a balk, Daniel Rothenberg drove Jamie in with a double down the left field line. And just like that it was 3-0 in favor of K.C. NASA scored an unearned run in the top of the third on a one out single, an outfield error, and two passed balls. It was 3-1 K.C. in the middle of the 3rd. In the bottom of the frame, K.C. doubled its run output on walks to Matt West and George Murphy, and a booming three run homer to dead center field by rightfielder Daniel Rothenberg. After 3, it was K.C. ahead by a score of 6-1. K.C. added 2 more insurance runs in the bottom of the 4th inning on a walk to Brian Borski, a double by Mark Robichau and a two-RBI double by Matt West. After 4, it was 8-1 K.C. Now, one might think that a seven run lead would guarantee victory. Not necessarily. NASA nickled and dimed two K.C. relief pitchers for 5 runs on an infield error, a hit batsman, a walk, a single, a walk, an infield out, a hit batsman, a walk, a 2-RBI double. Karl Pringle came on to pitch with an 8-6 lead, runners on second and third, and one out. Karl induced the first batter to fly out to left field where Mark Robichau made an awesome catch, possibly robbing the NASA batter of a 3 run homer, making it 8-7 K.C. with the tying run on third with two outs. Three pitches later, the game was over with the ball safely in the catcher's mitt. K.C. barely hung on for a critical 8-7 win against a tough NASA team. Meanwhile, 20 miles to the west, the K.C. 13's were playing the gracious host to Pasadena, committing 9 errors in 7 innings leading to 8 Pasadena runs en route to an 8-4 loss in the opener of the K.C. Pony 13 Zone Tournament. Both Pasadena and K.C. 13 struck for an unearned run in the first inning. Pasadena added a pair of runs in the top of the 3rd on a walk and a pair of nice doubles to the outfield gaps to make the score 3-1 Pasadena. Pasadena added another pair of unearned runs in the 4th inning to run the score to 5-1, and yet another pair of unearned runs in the top of the 6th inning to make the score 7-1, in favor of Pasadena. K.C. mounted its only offensive challenge of the evening in the bottom of the 6th. A leadoff single by Paul Knowlton, a fielder's choice by Jeffrey Rohrbach, a walk to Trey Hibbert, a single by Grant Haynes, a walk to Jared Rothenberg, a walk to Dylan Hickey and a walk to Charles Mann resulted in 3 K.C. runs to make the score 7-4 in favor of Pasadena. The visitors added one final unearned run in the 7th to make the final score 8-4 when K.C.'s 3 batters all struck out to end the game. By virtue of tonight's action, the K.C. 14's will play the winner of tonight's League City- Pasadena game tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 3:30pm in Pasadena. Meanwhile, the K.C. 13's will play an elimination bracket game against Baton Rouge at 7pm at K.C. field in Bayland Park. That's all for now, except for GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO K.C. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See you at the ballpark(s)!!!
