Congratulations to Jeff Becker, who was recently named to the Rockland County Sports Hall of Fame.  Let's not forget that Jeff was the product of a great running game and play action passing at North Rockland High School, was coached by a North Rockland Sports Hall of Fame Coach in baseball(Sottile), and led Duke to an ACC conference record of 35-80 in his 5 yrs and all while being protected in the lineup by Vaughn Schill, a 4th rd pick by the Mariners.  The road to the NRWBL Hall of Fame is heading the same direction as he rode on Chris Algozzinos coat-tails for his first championship and Grandpa Cahill for his second.  The voters for the Hall will not be so generous, despite a career 700BA.    image

Charlie Broke the Window Takes It Home!!

Posted by Darren Luzon at Jan 12, 2011 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Congratulations to Charlie Broke the Window (Mike "Nomar" Cahill, Jeff Becker, Pete Connolly, Jim Hansen)who took home the 2010 Fall League Championship.  It was a well played series against Hughesapalooza, however Charlie Broke the Window proved once again why Haverstraw is still better than Stony Point (again and again and again).  Even in an after hours challenge, the team of Jeff Becker and Mike "Beeker" Cahill defeated Keith Finnerty and Pat Carey.  It makes sense that the next season will mix all players in one pool as this is just not even a challenge anymore.  image

Cahill Goes From Geek to Stud in NRWBL

Posted by Darren Luzon at Dec 29, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Mike Cahill was a punching judy 2nd baseman who played on the 1988 squad that went to the final four and lost, a far cry from the baseball dynasty started in the early 90's at NRHS.  Cahill was apparently more worried driving around in his love machine and scoring with the ladies, who adored his mullet, than learning how to hit.  This is the swing that was produced from countless hours in his backyard, where he had his own batting cage.  Seven broken noses later and married to a NR HoF'er Cahill has apprently learned how to hit, moving himself into contention for the NRWBL Kevin Miller MVP Award.  Will his teammates (Jeff Becker) monumental season take votes away from his epic season - stay tuned....... image
