Former Jets Player Now College All American

Former Jet (2002-2004) and Buckeye 2010 graduate Shawn Cordes has earned All American honors as a member of the 4x100 relay team at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea. Shawn currently a sophomore and his 3 teammates turned in a time of 41.46 which was good for eighth place at the NCAA Division III Tournament at Claremont (CA) Mudd-Scripps College on May 27th, 2011. The top eight competitors in each event earn All American accolades. Congratulations go out to Shawn on his honor we are proud of you! Shawn is pictured above left with his teammates Mike Smith, his coach, Mike Smith and Michael Johnson.
The Buccaneers Varsity played 3 seasons from 2004 until 2006. They were led by Head Coach Scot Asvestas who was at the helm all three seasons. He was assisted over the years by Scott Gilbert, Austin Eggert, Steve Hunt, Kevin Toler, Jeff Thayer, Rich Metheney and Rick Monroe. They compiled an 11-14-0 all time record and suited up 40 players over that span.
The Buccaneers JV teams were fielded in all eight seasons from 2001-2008. Scot Asvestas was the Head Coach from 2001-2003 and Chris Calta took over in 2004 and coached until 2008. During those 8 seasons there were 84 players and 12 Assistant Coaches on the squads. Standings in the JV Division were kept during four seasons 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
They made the playoffs in 2005 under Chris Calta. Scot Asvestas went 2-5-1 during 2004 and Chris Calta went 12-12-0 over his three years as Head Coach.The Assistant Coaches over the years were Steve Hunt, John Wenner, Charlie Shaw, Scott Gilbert, Austin Eggert, Rich Metheney, Jeff Miller, Billy Ross, Bill Kneebush, Chris Nespeca, Ray Roach and Tim England.
