From the desk of Matt Finlayson, President of the Ocean State Waves:

Dear Families of Wickford Little League,

I hope that your baseball season has been enjoyable and that your son or daughter has had fun learning/playing the game of baseball! The weather is starting to feel like summer and that means the Waves are back in action. We would like to invite all players with their family to a FREE Baseball Clinic and Meet & Greet at Old Mountain Field. This will take place Wednesday, June 8th at 4:30 pm and go until 6 pm. Please come with a Waiver (online under camps tab) and that is all you need! If your son is interested in baseball camp, please check out our four weeks of summer camp at www.oceanstatewaves.com! First session of camp begins June 27th at Old Mountain Field. Campers get to learn from the best D1 players in the country and have fun with the Waves!

Also, Thursday July 21st, any Wickford Little League wearing their uniform gets free admission to the game at 6:30 pm.

All the best and hope to see you soon,

Matt Finlayson

President & GM

Ocean State Waves

"And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!"

This quote was taken from a poem by Francis Scott Key called "Defense of Fort McHenry." Key's poem was later transferred into the lyrics for our national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner." Wickford Little League would like to take a moment to thank the many servicemen and servicewomen in our community and our nation. Many retired and current servicemen and servicewomen have become local doctors, teachers, electricians, business people and are serving our community in other capacities. These men and women sacrificed family time, maybe college or a career, to join the armed forces in defense of our great nation. In your travels this weekend, at a cookout or a family gathering or during Wickford's Annual Memorial Day parade, take a moment to acknowledge their sacrifice. It only takes a few seconds and 5 words to make someone's day. Thank you for your service. Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day to all of our Wickford Little League community.

Quoting Ed Cooney:

"I'd like to Town Manager Tom Mulligan, Representative Doreen Costa, Representative Bob Craven, Senator Mark Gee, Town Councillor Carol Hueston, Town Councillor Kevin Maloney, School Committee Member Bob Jones, the NKHS Varsity Baseball Team, and WLL President Arnie Sarazen for coming out this morning to help us remember Paul and thank Marguerite Lischio for all of their contributions to be certain our Town's "Field of Dreams" became a reality. A special thanks needs to be given to Ray LeBlanc, Jack Pyne and Fran McCrossan for all of their hard work the last 20 years to be certain that Lischio Field is a place all of North Kingstown can be proud of."
