Fox Valley Performance Paddlers
Come join us Saturday August 19, 2017 for a fun day of paddle sports racing on the Fox River from Berlin Wisconsin to finish line in Omro Wisconsin!
Fox Valley Performance Paddlers are working together with the Fox River Runners to host a Canoe, Kayak, SUP, Surf Ski Race. This will be held the same day as the Fox River Runners Celebrate the Fox Corn Roast fund raiser. This will be one of the few times you race North and paddle downstream at the same time and the river is under stern rudder friendly. All human power single or double paddle craft are welcome. Power boats use this stretch of river so there's a deep channel and should be a fast course. We are hoping to be able to provide a shuttle service before the race so people can leave their vehicles at the finish.
There will be 2 course lengths. One approx. 17 miles and one approx. 8 miles.
The 17 mile course will Lock thru the Eureka Dam Lock so there will be no portage this year for the long course. Timing splits will be taken before you reach the lock and after you leave the lock so no one will be penalized for the time going thru the lock. We will lock thru small groups of paddlers and anticipate the time it will take to be around 15 minutes each lock thru.
The approx. 8 mile course will start below the Eureka Lock Dam using the Eureka Lock Campground private Boat Ramp.
Finish Lines for both course lengths are the same and end at Fred Miller Park in Omro, WI. We are anticipating a starting time for the first heats around on the 17 mile course to be sometime around 9-10am and the short course to be about 45minutes later.
Registration now open and more details to come so stay tuned and check back often!
