News and Announcements

The Bombers played the most exciting baseball in Forest Hills Little League history by winning the Section 3 Championship advancing to the 2006 NY State Junior League Baseball Tournament in Rochester as one of NY State's top-four teams. The Bombers amazing effort fell just short of making it to the championship game where they played very competitive ball against NY State's best. The league's players, officials and parents are very proud of the FH Bombers accomplishments. Picture Slideshows:

With this win the Bombers advance to the NY STATE Junior Baseball Championship in Greece, New York. The Bombers trailed 9 to 4 when Michael Rubin, Matthew Hunter and Nick Kumeloseki started a big rally. Jesse Friedman, Adam Sorin and Edan Sucov knocked in runs to cut the deficit to 9 to 7. Then Cory Hope took over the game. He had a 2 run double to tie the game and after a clutch hit by Yuan Ming Cai which gave the Bombers the lead for good he knocked in a big insurance run with another double. Jesse Friedman followed with a 2 run double of his own to finish the scoring. Timmy Hoxha, Edan Sucov, Cory Hope and Nick Kumeloseki pitched for the Bombers. Once again this was a total team effort. This is the furthest Forest Hills has gone in a long long time. Load up the bus it to upstate New York in the NY State Championship this weekend. JUST ONE MORE WIN... by Coach Evan Spilke July 23, 2006 - The FH Bombers continued their stellar play with an emotional 4 to 2 victory over Inwood. Jesse Friedman continued his dominant play with a Homerun which tied the game and a double which led to the winning run. The game was tied in the last inning when Adam Sorin had a 2 out 2 strike double knocking in 2 runs. Sorin's clutch hit was like his 4 rbi's in the district championship one week before. Stellar defense from Michael Rubin and Matthew Hunter was instrumental in the victory. JT Dimitra pitched a dominant game going all 7 innings and also chipping in with 2 hits. The team is playing great. • To All Forest Hills Little Leaguers, Girls Softball Players and their families, I am very excited to be part of the 2009 season and extremely proud of our organization. This year proves to be a standout year for the whole league - especially for Girls Softball. Thanks to the continued support of our Chairman Tom Brennan, and Evan Spilke the President of Little League we are showcasing some great changes on Field 3 this year. In the off season we have put up an electronic scoreboard on a field that will be dedicated to Girls Softball. The infield has been transformed to a flat field of clay minus a mound. Lights have also been erected so that we will be able to play night games this season. This year we have the biggest membership in recent memories as we field 10 teams , with a total of 118 girls in 3 divisions. Our oldest division will continue as it did last year traveling through out Queens and playing other teams of their same age. One of our sponsors Councilwoman Melinda Katz has done so much for our organization of sports - which in turn has enabled us to see this vision of a spring travel team. Her support is tremendous. On the other end of the spectrum our youngest division will continue as a clinic for the first half of the season- which will enable the girls to learn the skills necessary to compete and play on their own by mid season. We also thank Judy Chase and THE CAGE for providing us with clinics including agility - pitching - hitting and pitching. These clinics are the base that our coaches need to take our girls to the next level. Which brings us to the middle division. These 4 teams are the future of our organization and the impact we make in the sport of Girls Softball. For the first time in many years we are losing girls who are making their high school teams. This hasn't been the case in many years and is a reflection of how well the program teaches them for all levels. I hope to see in the next several years our first college scholarship player. And finally, though I have been blessed to be the voice and face of this league for several years, I would be remiss if I did not make it clear that all the success has more to do with the Board that has assembled with me to see this vision through. Kathryn Thome tracks our finances - coordinates our programs and fundraisers, and is the true marketing genius who has put us in the public eye. Brandi Levin continues to bridge the world between girls and boys for us and is the soldier who gets all the little tedious things done. Michael Reddy is the voice of reason for all Rules and Schedules as we grow and change with our abilities. And rounding us out is Steve Witting, Anthony Orlando and Dan O' Brien who fill in the pieces when decisions need to be made. In closing I am truly humbled to be at the front of this ship, proud of the board of directors that helps me day to day - season to season - grateful to the administration for their personal and monetary support and most importantly extremely impressed at the group of young ladies who take the field every week - proud to wear the name FOREST HILLS GIRLS SOFTBALL ! Now - Lets Play Ball !!!! Warmest Regards, J.R. Nocerino Director Girls Softball
