The Santa Cruz Royals seize victory thanks to late single, drop the Tigers 6-5

After seven lead changes in Sunday's game at Willow Glen High School, the Santa Cruz Royals finally pulled out a 6-5 win over the Tigers.

The Santa Cruz Royals took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. The Santa Cruz Royals scored on an RBI single by Doug Fearnside off #14, scoring Brian Brouse.

Brian Mangan put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Santa Cruz Royals. He singled in the third inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and homered in the eighth inning.

Pascual Del Real worked out of tricky spots for the Santa Cruz Royals. He pitched two innings and allowed no earned runs on one hit. Del Real faced his toughest situation in the ninth inning.

John Pardo recorded the win for the Santa Cruz Royals allowing 3 earned runs over seven innings. He struck out eight, walked four and surrendered eight hits.

Brian Brouse, Brian Mangan, Fearnside and Justin Baker helped lead the Santa Cruz Royals. They combined for nine hits and five RBIs.

In the top of the first, the Santa Cruz Royals grabbed the early lead, 1-0. A single by Matt Frandsen, plating Chris Rains started the inning off.

The Tigers quickly matched the Santa Cruz Royals' strong inning with a one-run inning of their own in the first. The Tigers scored on an RBI double by #16.

The Santa Cruz Royals matched their two-run third inning with two more in the eighth. In the third, the Santa Cruz Royals scored on an RBI single by Brian Mangan, bringing home Baker.

The Santa Cruz Royals went up for the duration of the game after the eighth inning. Additional runs came from a solo home run by Brian Mangan.
