Located in Great Barrington MA, in the Kilpatrick Athletic Center on the campus of Bard College at Simon's Rock. We compete locally and regionally having some meets in Vermont, Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut. Snapper Swim Club is a New England Swimming member swim team. New England Swimming is a part of USA Swimming, the governing body which over sees the USA Olympic swimming team selection.
Our swimmers range in age from 7 to 18, and they range in ability from beginning swimmers to Age Group qualifiers, and Massachusetts HighSchool State Meet Qualifiers.

In-person registration for the Fall/Winter season will start September 6th. Email Jhennessey@simons-rock.edu for more information. Swimmers new to USA/New England Swimming will need to provide proof of age (copy of a Birth certificate or Passport). Practice will start on September 13th!
2021-22 Fall/Winter Snapper Team Group Rates
Rates for members of the Kilpatrick Athletic Center, the second is for renewing members. In order to be considered a member at least one parent has to be an active paying member of the facility. Other definitions of member include: Simons-Rock Employees/Faculty of the College/SwimAmerica instructors and Kilpatrick Facility Lifeguards.
Novice Training Group (8&under) 2 Days per week for 22 weeks

- We offer a second child discount of 5%, third child discount of 10%, and fourth child discount of 15%
-program fee includes $87 USA Swimming/NE swimming membership dues. Swim meet fees will be billed on a monthly basis based on entries into swim meets.
Two Snapper long time team records have been broken after a period of as long as 14 years!
In the 8 and under girls catagory, first year SNAPPER Suri Tolentino broke the team short course record in the 50 breaststroke this past weekend at the NE Silver meet @ University of Rhode Island. The previous record was held by Neeka Daemi since 2008.
In the 11-12 girls catagory, Zoe Holmes took down the team record in the 50 backstroke that had been held since 2004 by Maggie Rosenbaum. Zoe did so in a swim off at the NE 11-14 Championships @ Boston University to determine 20th place in the 50 backstroke, she won the swim off by .03 seconds!
Registration begins in person on April 15th in the Aquatics Office.

Novice Training Group

practice length 45 minutes
learning the basics of all 4 competitive strokes
gain experience in intra-team competitions as well as local away meets
develop a positive relationship with swimming
age 6 - 10
must be able to swim one length of the pool in both freestyle and backstroke
Intermediate Training Group

4 nights per week
practice length: 1 hour
legalizing all four competitive strokes
developing good practice habits ( i.e. attendance, be on time, listening to coaches' instructions)
introduces swimmers to drills with focus on body awareness
practices are 85% technique, 15% training
gain experience in intra-team competitions and local away meets
must have basic knowledge of all 4 competive strokes in addition to Novice Group entry requirements
Advanced Training Group

five practices per week
practice length 1.5-2 hours
dry-land 1-3 days per week: may be running/weights/etc.
learning more advanced drills, focusing on increasing efficiency of the four competitive strokes
learn and implement race strategies during meets
practices are 50% technique, 50% training
use complicated interval training on a daily basis
attend a minimum of 80% of workouts monthly
attend a minimum of four away swim meets per season
11-12 members must have achieved 11-12 "BB" time standard in a majority of events
13-14 members must have achieved 13-14 "B" time standard in majority of events
