Welcome to the 2014 Panthers Flag Squad webpage. They are the newest team in Buckeye Youth Football. In 2013 we resurected the name from back in 1999 when we only had the Jaguars we had enough kids for a second flag team so we put them together and called them the Panthers thinking if we expanded they could be the second team. But as it happened we expanded in 2000 and Brunswick Youth Football dictated we call them the Jets so the Panthers were never seen again until last year! It's fun having 3 teams in the Flag Division and we are looking toward rebuilding a third team from the bottom up!

The Panthers will be coached this year by two familiar faces from last season. Steve VanDette is back as the Head Coach. Jay Schrock will be back as Assistant Coach along with Matt Wilhelm who will be in his first season coaching. Coach Brian Walti will join the Jaguars PW squad this season as his son moves up a division. Steve and Jay did a good job last year as BYFA is growing and we added a third Flag team. The Panthers squad is under the Jaguars wing of teams and Jags Head Coach Mike Arena is the coach responsible for all the coaches, cheerlleaders, parents and players under him. They will be included in the team meeting on August 7th and the Jags Banquet in November. Here's to having another great season in 2014! GO PANTHERS!!
The picture above is the 1999 Panthers Flag squad. We only had one team at the time so when we had enough kids for another Flag squad we named them the Panthers. When we reached that same thing in the 2013 Season we brought out the old name and dusted it off. We hope to go forward with a Panthers Flag and possibly a Panther Pee Wee squad in the 2014 Season.
