What looked to be a great pitchers match-up turned out to be just that as both Timmy Lynch and Chris Lenox pitched fantastic, but in the end, Dave’s scored the winning run on a miscommunication between catcher Zach Lynch and Chris Lenox which helped Dave’s win the second round playoff game 2-1.  Lenox thought the second out in the 5th inning was the 3rd out and was walking off the mound when Zach Lynch instinctively threw the ball back to the mound. The ball went uncaught past the mound and Timmy Lynch ran home from 3rd base to score the eventual winning run. Chris allowed 6 hits, struck out 7, and walked 2 batters over 5 innings. Timmy Lynch pitched 5 innings, struck out 11, allowed 4 singles, and walked 3 batters. Ryan Gwaltney played the closer role for Dave’s striking out 2 in a scoreless 6th inning to earn the save.

Top hitters for Dave’s were Alex Smith who went 2 for 2, and Mark Rogers, Vinny Thela, Chris Guenev, and Timmy Lynch who all went 1 for 2. Matt Pazienza led Allies offensive attack with 2 hits, and Nathan Mathews and Jack LaFreniere both got base hits.

Allie's advances defeating Wilsons 7-6

Posted by David Sampson at Jun 16, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
In the first round of the playoffs, Allies defeated Wilson's 7-6 in a nail-biter that lasted 8 innings.

Allies led 3-0 when Wilson's tacked on 3 runs in the 5th with a double by Josh Moniz.  Wilson's added one more in the 6th to go ahead 4-3, but Allies responded on a triple from Kyle Rogers.  Both teams traded 2 runs in the 7th.  Allies defense held Wilson's scoreless in the eighth.  After 2 walks, Matt Pazienza connected for a base hit to drive in the winning run.

Nathan Mathews, Chris Lenox and Nick Gartland contributed to the pitching for Allies.  Pat Maybach and Greg Enos pitched an outstanding game for Wilson's.
