News and Announcements

The girls team ended its very successful regular season with a 78-44 win over Scranton Prep.  Madison Harding had yet another strong showing with four wins.  She achieved those wins in the 100 Hurdles, 100 meter dash, 400 meter, and joined Katie Retzbach, Kayla Agentowicz, and Elena Tomcykoski to win the 4x4 relay.  The 4x1 team of Agentowicz, Brooke Estadt, Kristen Hllavaty, and Taylor Flynn continued its solid season with a win.  Agentowicz added a win in the 800 and Flynn added a win in the 200.  Lakeland dominated the throws with a total of 18 points from the two events.  Molly Mikulak, on her birthday, won the shotput  and Anna Pidgeon got her first career victory in the discus.  The girls finished the season with a 6-1 record.  The boys team again fell.  Prep outscored them by a score of 73-50.  The 4x8 team of Nick Setta, Kurt Reeves, Mike Arzie, and Joey Snedeker started the meet off with a win in the 4x8.  Collin Cooper continued his solid season with a win in the 400 and anchored the 4x4 to another win.  Tommy Dastalfo, Mike Lowry, and Brandon Donahue joined Cooper on that 4x4.  Paul Forbes got the only other win in the triple jump.  The boys team finished up at 1-6.  The next meet is Friday at the Abington Invitational.
The girls team slid by against Scranton Prep with a 79-70 win.  Senior Tori Doyle again lead the way with four wins.  She lead a sweep of the 100 hurdles, won the pole vault, high jump, and joined Emily Williams, Julie Kozuch, and Sarah Larkin to win the 4x1.  Larkin continued her undefeated season in the 100 meter dash, while winning the 200 and anchoring the winning 4x4 team to victory.  Lauren Holt, Mackensie Kiaiser, and Boyarsky joined Larkin in that relay.  Kiaiser added a win in the 400 and Boyarsky in the long jump.  Sophomore Breann Claus-Walton got huge wins in the discus and shot-put.  The boys team lost 93-56.  Junior phenom Casey Albino again lead the way with three wins.  He won the 100,200, and 400.  Freshman Mark Arzie won the 800.  Dante Denantonio got the win in the shot and Willie Demyan claimed his first career win in the discus.  Gavin O'Donnell also made his way onto the Lakeland top ten list in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.6 and freshman Nathan Morgan got on the top ten list in the 3200 with a time of 10:19.8.  The boys team finishes at 4-3 and the girls move to 5-2.  This marks the first time since 2007 that both the boys and girls team had winning records during the same year.  As both teams move down a division next year and both teams are made up of primarily  underclassmen, the future is bright for the Chiefs and Lady Chiefs.  The historic Jordan Relays are up next Thursday night at 6:00.  The Chiefs and Lady Chiefs look to put Lakeland back on top of the Jordan's standings.  A place where both teams sat for almost two decades....

There will be Varsity and JH team pictures on Monday before the varsity meet.  Please bring your uniform and envelope with payment if you received one.  If you did not receive an envelope, there will be more to take home at practice Monday.  They do not have to be in the day of pictures.
In an exhibition meet against Scranton where no scores were kept, the junior high girls 4x8 team of Madison Harding, Corey Davis, Brooke Estadt, and Elena Tomcykoski tied the school record of 11:10.0 that was set in 1996.
