The girls team, lead by the dominating performances of Tori Doyle, Cassidy Jenkins, and Sarah Larkin tied Holy Cross with 152 points to win the 2012 Spagna Conference Meet.  Jenkins and Doyle started it off by winning gold and silver in the 100 Hurdles with the gold going to Jenkins.  She broke Doyle's school record in the event with a time of 15.01.  She also beat the conference meet record that stood since 2005.  Later on in the night, Jenkins blew away the field in the 300H with a blistering time of 45.45, another school and conference record.  Sarah Larkin continued her undefeated season in the 100M with a gold medal and also won a bronze in the 200M.  Larkin then teamed with Emily Williams, Cassidy Jenkins, and Ashton Boyarsky to grab a silver in the 4x1 Relay.  Doyle continued her league dominance in the high jump with a gold medal.  She also grabbed a silver in the pole vault.  Ashton Boyarsky finished up the medaling with a bronze in the long jump and triple jump.  The boys team, missing two major point scorers, finished third to Holy Cross and Dunmore.  Mark Arzie set a PR in the mile with a 4:31 while grabbing the only medal on the day, a silver.  The next meet is Tuesday at Scranton Memorial Stadium for the District II Championships. 
The Junior High Girls team showed up at the Abington Invite with one purpose...to break as many school records possible.  After the day was through, five records fell and about four more were almost beat.  Madison Harding had a career day.  She started it off with a bronze medal in the 100 hurdles.  She then won the 400 breaking her own school record with a time of 1:02.22.  She followed that up with a win and school record of 49.29 in the 300 hurdles.  She then teamed with Katie Retzbach, Kayla Agentowicz, and Brooke Estadt get a silver medal in the 4x4 with a school record of 4:24.41.  Agentowicz also had a career day with a bronze in the high jump where she set a personal record of 4'8.  She then ran on the bronze medal winning 4x1 team with Estadt, Kristen Hllavaty, and Taylor Flynn.  She saved her best for the event that she loves so much...the 800m.  She took a bronze medal in that event breaking her own school record by 6 seconds with a time of 2:28.72.  Estadt continued her solid season with a bronze in the triple jump.  Elena Tomcykoski, running the 3200 for the first time in her life, shattered a school record with a time of 13:28.01.  The team scored 81 points to finish third in the overall standings and first in the AA standings.  The boys team got strong showings from Collin Cooper, Brandon Donahue, and Paul Forbes.  Donahue and Cooper 2-3ed the 400 with personal record times.  They then teamed with Mike Lowry and Tommy Dastalfo to gain a silver medal in the 4x4 where they ran a 3:49.32.  Paul Forbes had the other medal on the day for the Chiefs in the triple jump where he grabbed a bronze.  The boys team finished 6th overall with 46.50 points and first overall AA.  The next meet is the final meet on Friday at Memorial Stadium.
At the 53rd running of the Jordan Relays, the boys team used strong performances from freshmen and sophomores to finish with 40 points.  They scored 37 more points than the previous season and finished second to Holy Cross.  The distance medley team of Mark Arzie, Zach Krieger, Brandon Newberry, and Nathan Morgan started the meet off with a bronze medal performance.  They were followed by the 1200 medley team of Gavin O'Donnell, Scotty Cortes, Tim Hackenberg, and Casey Albino who took the silver medal.  Lakeland stole the show in the next event where the 4x8 team of Tim Von Storch, Zach Krieger, Mark Arzie, and Nathan Morgan dominated the AA classification with a gold medal performance.  In the final event, the 4x4 team of Gavin O'Donnell, Mark Arzie, Brandon Newberry, and Casey Albino ran a 3:29 finishing second by only two tenths.  That is Lakelands best time in that event since 2004 and 30 seconds faster than they ran last year.  The 40 points was their highest point total since 2007.  The girls finished second to Montrose with 39 points.  The 4x1 team of Emily Williams, Cassidy Jenkins, Ashton Boyarsky, and Sarah Larkin destroyed a school record and set the Jordans record with a time of 50.49.  They won the AA race by a whopping 3 seconds.  The 1200 Medley team of Lauren Holt, Tori Doyle, Sarah Larkin, and Mackenzi Kiaiser took a bronze medal and the 4x4 team of Lauren Holt, Cassidy Jenkins, Sarah Larkin, and Mackenzi Kiaiser took a silver running 10 seconds faster than they did all season with a 4:13 performance.  The next meet is the Spagna League Meet on Tuesday. 
The girls team ended its very successful regular season with a 78-44 win over Scranton Prep.  Madison Harding had yet another strong showing with four wins.  She achieved those wins in the 100 Hurdles, 100 meter dash, 400 meter, and joined Katie Retzbach, Kayla Agentowicz, and Elena Tomcykoski to win the 4x4 relay.  The 4x1 team of Agentowicz, Brooke Estadt, Kristen Hllavaty, and Taylor Flynn continued its solid season with a win.  Agentowicz added a win in the 800 and Flynn added a win in the 200.  Lakeland dominated the throws with a total of 18 points from the two events.  Molly Mikulak, on her birthday, won the shotput  and Anna Pidgeon got her first career victory in the discus.  The girls finished the season with a 6-1 record.  The boys team again fell.  Prep outscored them by a score of 73-50.  The 4x8 team of Nick Setta, Kurt Reeves, Mike Arzie, and Joey Snedeker started the meet off with a win in the 4x8.  Collin Cooper continued his solid season with a win in the 400 and anchored the 4x4 to another win.  Tommy Dastalfo, Mike Lowry, and Brandon Donahue joined Cooper on that 4x4.  Paul Forbes got the only other win in the triple jump.  The boys team finished up at 1-6.  The next meet is Friday at the Abington Invitational.
The girls team slid by against Scranton Prep with a 79-70 win.  Senior Tori Doyle again lead the way with four wins.  She lead a sweep of the 100 hurdles, won the pole vault, high jump, and joined Emily Williams, Julie Kozuch, and Sarah Larkin to win the 4x1.  Larkin continued her undefeated season in the 100 meter dash, while winning the 200 and anchoring the winning 4x4 team to victory.  Lauren Holt, Mackensie Kiaiser, and Boyarsky joined Larkin in that relay.  Kiaiser added a win in the 400 and Boyarsky in the long jump.  Sophomore Breann Claus-Walton got huge wins in the discus and shot-put.  The boys team lost 93-56.  Junior phenom Casey Albino again lead the way with three wins.  He won the 100,200, and 400.  Freshman Mark Arzie won the 800.  Dante Denantonio got the win in the shot and Willie Demyan claimed his first career win in the discus.  Gavin O'Donnell also made his way onto the Lakeland top ten list in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.6 and freshman Nathan Morgan got on the top ten list in the 3200 with a time of 10:19.8.  The boys team finishes at 4-3 and the girls move to 5-2.  This marks the first time since 2007 that both the boys and girls team had winning records during the same year.  As both teams move down a division next year and both teams are made up of primarily  underclassmen, the future is bright for the Chiefs and Lady Chiefs.  The historic Jordan Relays are up next Thursday night at 6:00.  The Chiefs and Lady Chiefs look to put Lakeland back on top of the Jordan's standings.  A place where both teams sat for almost two decades....
