LEARN MORE ABOUT THE PRE-TEAM! (click here)

Posted by Mary Collishaw at Jan 21, 2015 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Pre-Team Information

If a child is cannot swim the length of the pool (25M) freestyle and is 8 years old or younger, then he/she may be eligible for pre-team. Children must be evaluated prior to placement on the pre-team.  They need to be able to swim the width of the diving well using a stroke (freestyle, backstroke, etc.) without a parent in the pool.

Pre-team evaluations will be held 3:30-4:00 pm on Monday June 20th and Tuesday June 21st, at the diving well.

Parents need to sign children up for a specific evaluation time slot.  Sign up sheets are kept at the pool guard house.  Select one time slot for your child to be evaluated by coaches.  Be sure to include ALL requested information. After all of the evaluations are completed, parents will be notified whether or not their child makes it onto the pre-team.

Do not register your potential pre-teamer for the swim team until after he/she has been placed on the pre-team.  However, be sure to do so before the first practice so they can participate.

Pre-team practices will be held from Thursday, June 23 and end Thursday, July 21.  Accepted swimmers need to commit to one of two practice times for the summer:  morning (11:30-12:00) or afternoon (3:30-4:00) for the entire season.

Pre-team is a developmental group; pre-teamers do not swim in all meets.  The goal of pre-team is to have the athletes swimming at least one legal stroke by the last weeks of the season so that they can participate a meet/s. We will keep parents informed about swimmers' participation in meet/s. Some pre-teamers get moved into the regular team during the swim season based on their ability, at the coaches' discretion.  We will keep parents informed if their swimmer/s are placed on the regular team; there is no other registration or payment involved.
