    LEARN TO SKATE

The STHA is considering implementing a “Learn to Skate” program for the 2016-2017 season geared toward interested families of children who have not yet been on the ice.
This program, if implemented, would consist of the following:
o Beginning players (typically 3 years old and up)
o The only requirement is interest in hockey
o The learn to skate sessions will be shorter sessions and the focus will be to progress the players to skate under their own power. It is anticipated that many of the children in this group will advance into the Blue division as the season progresses.
o The program would consist of 10 sessions running from October to early December. The sessions would take place once a week and run about 45 minutes.
The STHA Board will assess the level of interest in the Learn to Skate Program and determine if there’s enough interest to warrant implementing the program for the 2016-2017 season.
If you have an interest in this program please let us know by emailing Piero Lisio at pierolisio@gmail.com

    8U DIVISION TO MOVE TO

RED/WHITE/BLUE MODEL THIS SEASON

The STHA is implementing the USA Hockey Red, White and Blue (RWB) model for the 8U (formerly Mini Mite and Dyno Mite) divisions for the 2016-2017 season.

The (RWB) model will result in more equally balanced divisions based on the level of development of the players and will allow coaches to implement practice plans specifically designed toward developing the skills needed for advancement.
