Golden athletes get going
Various athletes and coaches head to Alberta Summer Games in search of a gold medal

Strathmore Standard — Athletes and coaches from Wheatland County will be looking for medals this upcoming weekend as Camrose hosts the 2002 Alberta Summer Games Aug. 15-18.
Nearly 20 athletes and coaches from the area qualified to compete in the four-day event.
The County will be well represented by female volleyball players, which include Strathmore's Blaire Anderson, Joeclyn Drake, Brittany Ferguson, Kristen Harriman and Tara Lein. Tannis Corbiell (Cluny), Lacy Kaiser and Debbie Knudensen of Hussar will also take part in the sport. Carrie Westgard and Louise Bleier of Strathmore will coach.
Strathmore will also send Jessica Kisell (triathlon), Joseph McAfee (football), Kaleb Hembrough (football) and Chase Bachman (football).
Siksika will send basketball players Megan Yellow Fly, Lanny McHugh and Jarrett Pretty Youngman.
Strathmore's Zane Anderson qualified for the baseball team, but he will not attend because of other commitments.
With nearly 3,000 athletes, coaches and technical officials participating in 17 different sports from across the province, the Alberta Games is the province's multi-sport event for youth aged 12-17.
The opening ceremonies begin on Aug. 15 and can be seen live on television.
