Challenger Field

Posted by Paul Skuta at Mar 4, 2018 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

This year is our 4th year that Alameda Little League will have a Challenger division for special need kids in our community. The Challenger games will be played on Sundays @ 2pm on our new Challenger Field at Alameda Estuary Park (200 Mosley Ave. Corner of Mosley and Singleton). The new Estuary Park is located near the Alameda Point Ferry. Challenger Field features a synthetic surface.

People have been experiencing mixed results using a navigation app in getting to Estuary Park.

Directions to Estuary Park:
Assuming you are in Central Alameda
Take Central or Atlantic to Main St.
Turn right onto Main
Turn right onto Singleton (last light before ferry terminal)
Turn left onto Mosely.

For the second year in a row, the Oakland Athletics and Black Bear Diner have teamed up to provide local area Little Leagues with uniform shirts and hats for the 2018 season. This year all the T-Ball and Farm division teams will all be the Athletics! There are more uniform variations than we have teams so each team will have separate and distinctive looks. No two teams will look the same.

This should be a lot of fun for the kids. We live in the shadow of the Oakland Coliseum home of Ricky Henderson Field. The A's have a rich tradition which we hope the parents of our players will share with their kids. The A's are our home team.

The quality of the uniform is actually higher that the ones we get from our regular uniform suppliers. The Athletics are long time supporters of Alameda Little League. Annually the A's provide sponsorship in the form of outfield banners. The A's also donated many items for ALL's Lights Project fundraiser two years ago. They really stepped it up a notch again this year. The A's are saving the league $9,000 in uniforms which helps us keep registration fees the lowest in the Bay Area.

We accept this donation with the utmost thanks to the Oakland Athletics and Black Bear Diners, knowing that it will help our League grow in many other areas, such as buying baseballs!
