The Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats were shut out 2-0 by the Battlefords Sharks on the road on Saturday.

Danika Dureau and Maggie Rauckman each had a goal and an assist for the Sharks and Cypress Classen made 14 saves for her first shutout of the season. Paige Fischer made 26 saves for the Wildcats (2-4-1-2), who face the Sharks again Sunday afternoon in Battleford.

Meanwhile, Evangeline Hill, Cassidy Peters and Amiyah Jones are representing Saskatchewan for the National Women’s U18 Hockey Championship starting on Sunday in Dawson Creek, BC. Their first game will be against Team Atlantic on Sunday afternoon.

After picking up their first regulation win of the season on Saturday, the Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats completed a weekend sweep of the Prince Albert Mann-Northway Northern Bears with a 4-2 on Sunday at S3 Arenas.

The Wildcats opened with three consecutive goals over the opening 40 minutes from Kyla Benjamin, Kaylee Williams and Madden Rublee. Tristyn Endicott and Ella Clarke scored for the Bears in the third period to cut their deficit to 3-2, but Evangeline Hill scored the insurance goal for the Wildcats with 2:42 left in the game.

Jade Thompson added two assists for Swift Current and Paige Fischer made 29 saves as the Wildcats outshot the Bears 38-31.

The Wildcats (2-3-1-2) visit the Battlefords Sharks for a pair of games next weekend.

Kyla Benjamin scored twice and added an assist as the Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats picked up a 3-1 win over the Prince Albert Mann-Northway Northern Bears on Saturday at S3 Arenas.

Benjamin opened the scoring with 2:01 left in the first before Zayda Summach tied it up on the power play 1:24 into the second. Benjamin broke the tie with 3:26 left in the middle frame and Olivia Ferguson tallied the insurance marker with 6:40 left in the third period.

Paige Fischer made 24 saves as Swift Current outshot Prince Albert 25-18.

The Wildcats (1-3-1-2) host the Bears again at 1:15 on Sunday afternoon from S3 Arenas.

Wildcats drop OT decision in Weyburn

The Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats wound up with a weekend split in Weyburn after a 3-2 overtime loss to the Gold Wings on Sunday.

Julia Durr opened the scoring for Weyburn at 2:42 of the first period, and the score held up until the midway point of the third when Peyton Birnie scored to make it 2-0. Cassidy Peters scored on the power play with 4:45 left to put Swift Current within one, and Alexie Palchinski scored with 1:25 left to tie the game and force overtime, where Macy Groenewegen scored the winning goal on the power play with 2:49 left in the second overtime frame.

Jordyn Ottenbreit made nine saves for the Wildcats as Swift Current outshot the Gold Wings 22-11.

The Wildcats (0-3-1-2) will host the Prince Albert Bears for a pair of games next weekend at S3 Arenas.

Wildcats get past Weyburn in shootout

The Innovation Federal Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats picked up their first win in league play this season with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Weyburn Gold Wings on Saturday at Crescent Point Place.

Raela Packet opened the scoring for the Wildcats at the 1:40 mark of the first period, and then Randell Banga tied it with a goal at 1:10 of the second period. Alexie Palchinski scored at 7:21 of the middle frame to give Swift Current a 2-1 lead, then Kaydance Ray evened the score at the 1:38 mark of the third, which would force overtime.

After a scoreless 10-minute overtime session, Cassidy Peters and Evangeline Hill scored for Swift Current in the shootout, while Paige Fischer stopped hadley Revenko and Julia Durr on the other end to give the Wildcats the victory. Fischer stopped 25 shots in regulation and overtime as the Wildcats outshot Weyburn 32-27.

The Wildcats (0-3-1-1) will face the Gold Wings again on Sunday afternoon in Weyburn.
