Wildcats doubled up by Stars

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats dropped a 4-2 decision to the Saskatoon Stars on Saturday at Merlis Belsher Place.

After a scoreless first period, Saskatoon picked up three unanswered goals from Peyton Gabruck, Kelsey Ledoux and Shayla Koroll to go up 3-0 after the second period. Alexie Palchinski and Raela Packet cut the Wildcats’ deficit to 3-2 by the midway point of the third, but Ledoux scored her second of the game on the power play to give the Stars their two-goal lead back with 8:44 left in the game.

Paige Fischer made 39 saves for the Wildcats, who were outshot 43-18.

Wildcats edged 2-1 by Rebels

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats fell 2-1 to the league-leading Regina Rebels on Wednesday night at S3 Arenas.

Avery Gottselig opened the scoring for Regina on the power play with 3:20 left in the first period before Taylre Becker tied it up with a goal at 13:11 of the second. Ella Schneider would break the 1-1 deadlock with the eventual game winner for the Rebels with 11:21 left in the third period.

Paige Fischer made 54 saves for the Wildcats, who were outshot 56-27.

The Wildcats (7-13-1-3) will face the Rebels again on February 8 in Regina.

The Swift Current Federal Innovation Wildcats will be holding their annual spring camp on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at the S3 East Arena in Swift Current. The camp is open to players born in 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007. The camp will consist of skill sessions and scrimmages. Cost of the camp is $100.

Hounds win goalies' duel over Wildcats

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats were blanked 2-0 by the Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday night in Wilcox.

The game was scoreless through nearly 58 minutes of play before Sara Harbus broke the deadlock with a goal at the 7:52 mark of the third period. Kate Williams added an empty-netter for the Hounds and Schay Camphaug stopped all 26 shots she faced for her third shutout of the season. Paige Fischer made 16 saves for Swift Current in the loss.

The Wildcats (7-12-1-3) play their next game on January 31 when they host the Regina Rebels.

Wildcats fall 3-1 to Weyburn

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats dropped a 3-1 decision to the Weyburn Gold Wings on Sunday afternoon at S3 Arenas to split a weekend homestand.

Kaydence Ray opened the scoring for Weyburn on the power play midway through the first period, then Raela Packet tied the game up for Swift Current on the power play with 5:01 left in the opening frame. Julia Durr gave the Wings the lead again in the second period, and Kaitlyn Mah added another goal in the third period to seal the win for Weyburn.

Jordyn Ottenbreit made 15 saves for the Wildcats while Amy Swayze made 41 stops for the Gold Wings as Swift Current outshot Weyburn 42-18.

The Wildcats (7-11-1-3) visit the Notre Dame Hounds in their next game on Tuesday night.
