Mark Haverstock of Halifax became the first pitcher in 5 years to throw a no hitter as Halifax beat Sackville 11-0. Haverstock struck out seven and walked two to earn the victory. Craig Higgins of the Truro Bearcats had the last no-hitter prior to tonight, a 10-1 win over the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry on Aug. 2, 2001. Last weekend, New Brunswick teams won five of eight games against Nova Scotia to kick off the inaugural season of interleague play. Both leagues have committed to a two-year agreement to promote interleague play.
