Americans Beat Chiefs 9-4

The Melrose Americans stayed hot and won their seventh in a row with a 9-4 win over the Chiefs on Monday night at Maplewood.

Mike Sorrentino went 3-4 with three RBI’s and Josh Bosh had a double, single, and scored two runs to lead the Americans at the plate.
Chris Mitchell (2-2) went four innings to gain the win.

Andrew Caulfield homered for the Chiefs while Evan Walsh (0-3) got the loss.

The Chiefs at Middlesex Expos game scheduled for Tuesday night has been postponed.

Dunphy Three-Hits Middlesex in 1-0 Chiefs Win

Lefty Tim Dunphy (1-2) threw a complete game three-hitter when the Chiefs edged the Middlesex Expos 1-0 at Maplewood on Thursday night.

Adam Johnson scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the fourth when he reached on an error and scored on Joe Bova’s RBI single.

Dunphy faced just three batters in six of the seven innings as the Chiefs turned two double plays and picked a runner off.

Ryan Qualey (1-1) was the hard luck loser as he allowed just two hits, struck out nine, and gave up one unearned run.

The 6-6 Chiefs return to action on Monday night when they will host the Melrose Americans at Maplewood at 8:00 PM.

Reading, MA- Blaise Cormier went 4 for 4, with three RBI’s, Andrew Caulfield added two doubles, and Gino DeSimone had two hits and an RBI, when the Chiefs beat the Reading Bulldogs 4-2 at Austin Prep on Tuesday night.

Former Suffolk University lefty Jonathan Richard (1-0) allowed just three hits and struck out eight in six innings to get the win while Tommy Leone picked up his second save of the year in the seventh.

Andrew Croteau had two hits, an RBI, and stole three bases for the Bulldogs. Connor Hewlette (0-2) took the loss.

The Chiefs are back in action tonight (Wednesday) when they visit the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM.

The Chiefs hope to get back into the swing of things, following the Fourth of July break and numerous rainouts, when they travel to Austin Prep in Reading to meet the Bulldogs on Tuesday at 6:45 PM.

On Wednesday, the Chiefs will meet the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM before returning home to Maplewood to entertain the Middlesex Expos on Thursday at 8:00 PM.

Melrose MA- John Jennings hit two homers to lead the Americans to a 9-4 win over the Chiefs in Melrose on Wednesday night.

Jennings (3-4), Bobby Losanno (2-3, RBI), and Josh Bohn (2 RBI), helped the Americans erase a 3-0 Chiefs’ first inning lead.

Colin Jaena (1-1) worked the first 4.1 innings to gain the win and Mike Andrews and Ronnie Luke combined on 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Adam Johnson and Ryan Nonne each had two hits and a couple of RBI ‘s for the Chiefs.

Graham Seed (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season.

Thursday’s scheduled Chiefs at Blue Sox game has been postponed due to wet grounds in Lexington.
