Chiefs infielder begins his second ICL season…..Led Chiefs with four triples last summer……Also had three doubles and a homer…..Signed professionally and played winter ball in Australia earlier this year….Also signed professionally with Worcester of the Can-Am League…..Was named as the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year in 2009.... Selected to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association NCAA D-2 All American second team and to the NCBW of America all-America team….. Named to the ECAC D-2, NCBWA, ABCA and Daktronics all East teams…..Batted a lofty .393 as a senior in 2009 with a team-record 84 hits including 11 homers….Named  team captain three consecutive years at Assumption and set career marks in games played (187), games started (187), at bats (731), hits (267), triples (15) and sacrifice flies (11)…… image
Comes to the Chiefs from UMass-Amherst….Finished his career with the Minutemen hitting .297 with 12 homers and 46 RBI in 77 games….Natural 6’ 5 first baseman has also pitched for UMass…..Made 24 mound appearances, mostly in a relief role, and chalked up five saves while striking out 44 batters in 54.2 innings…. Went eight strong innings at Oklahoma this spring, allowing four runs on nine hits, while striking out six ...  Pitched 2.2 solid innings of relief in the season-opener against Oklahoma State. Mike played last summer in Minnesota for Brainerd Lakes of the Northwoods League hitting .313. (42-134) with a homer and 18 RBI’s in 39 games….Also made eleven starts for the Lunkers going 3-5 with an ERA of 3.02 while recording 47 K’s in 68.2 innings…..Son of Rich and Sherry Gedman ... Father, Rich, was a catcher for the Boston Red Sox from 1980 to 1990 and later the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals ... Mother, Sherry, played softball and basketball at the UConn where she threw two no-hitters and still holds the second-lowest career ERA in program history (0.57) ... Brandeis senior-to-be has started 114 consecutive games for the Judges in both the outfield and infield....Holds a .323 career average at Brandeis (149-461) with 25 doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 67 RBI....Has stolen 29 bases in 36 attempts during his college career... Hit.312 this past spring with a dozen doubles and three homers.....In 2009, as a sophomore, was the only player to start in all 41 contests at five different positions: third base (18 games), center field (12), left field (4), shortstop (4) and second base (3) and batted .288 with 18 RBI and 26 runs scored...In his freshman year of 2008, Tony became the second-straight Judge to earn UAA Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Association honors leading the team in hits (60), runs scored (37) and total bases (84), while tied for team lead with 33 RBI with 19 multi-hit games....Ended his 2008 season on a six-game streak to finish at .366...Earned first UAA Player of the Week honors on April 28, 2008, after a week in which he hit .429 with 11 RBI, seven runs scored and seven extra-base hits - three HR, two 2B, two 3B...Was a three-sport standout at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA.... Chiefs third year middle infielder just concluded his brilliant four year career at Merrimack College.... Started 168 games for Joe Sarno's Warriors and recorded 200 hits, third on the all-time Merrimack list behind Chiefs Jeff Bercume (231) and Brian Macrina (221)...Started 38 games at shortstop for the Chiefs last season and hit an overall .248 with a team leading seven doubles....Was named a starter in the 2009 ICL all-star game....Hit .316 for the Chiefs in his rookie year of 2008 while starting 27 games....Son of Thomas and Jennifer Pyburn … has one sibling – Tyler... Brendan was a CCL All-Star as a junior and senior at Bishop Fenwick and helped team to state championship as a sophomore...Was a member of Agganis Games and Salem News All-Stars as a senior..Named third team all Northeast-10 Conference in 2008, 2009 & 2010...

Expected to miss the first 4-6 weeks of the season with a fracture of the nose.....Hit a combined .390 for the Cassell Club from 2006-2008 with six home runs... Was the ICL playoff MVP in 2006 while leading the former Somerville based club to the championship...Did not play in the ICL last season....Graduated from UMass-Lowell in 2006 where he started 50 games and recorded 12 doubles, three triples, four homers and 40 RBI....Also played at UConn, where in 2004, he hit .301 with 2 homers and 19 RBI....Is the son of former Chief Jack Dempsey and the nephew of legendary Chiefs manager Lenny Dempsey who piloted the team from 1961 to 1967.... image
