(Malden, MA) Veteran southpaw Tim Dunphy tossed a neat complete game three-hitter when the Chiefs knocked off the Reading Bulldogs 3-1 at Maplewood on Wednesday night.

Andrew Caulfield (RBI) and John Baptista led the Chiefs at the plate with two hits each Nick Valdario had an RBI triple and Tyler Ferdinand added a double to contribute to the nine hit offense.

The Chiefs broke a 1-1 tie and scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure their second straight win.

Dunphy struck out two and didn’t walk a batter. He upped his record to 4-2 on the season. It was his 58th career win in a Chiefs’ uniform. He trails only Dave Marsters (99 wins) and Jared Freni (71 wins) on the Chiefs all-time pitching win list.

Aidan Vining (0-2) took the loss for Reading despite striking out eight in his 4.1 innings.

The Chiefs are back in action tonight (Thursday) when they travel to Waltham to face the Middlesex Expos at Brandeis University at 8:15 PM.
