Rookies Anthony & Remy Pitch Chiefs to 3-1 Eight Inning Win in Melrose
Melrose, MA- Central Catholic rookie pitchers Jack Anthony and Nick Remy (1-0) gave the Chiefs a big pitching boost when they combined on a six-hitter in a 3-1 extra inning win over the Americans on Thursday at Morelli Field.
Anthony, from North Andover, MA, worked the first six innings in his ICL debut. Remy, who hails from Atkinson, NH, blanked the Americans over the last two frames to record his first win.
The Americans took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a Nick Cordeau double and a Charlie Huegi RBI single.
The Chiefs were held scoreless by the duo of Mike Peters and Chris Mitchell until they finally tied things up in the top of the sixth on a Nate Witkowski RBI double.
The Chiefs won the game when they scored a couple of runs in the top of the eighth on an error, two walks, and a couple of wild pitches.
Chiefs Chatter…..The Chiefs are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Lexington to visit the Blue Sox at 8:00 PM….On Sunday, they meet the Wakefield Merchants at Walsh Field at 3:00 PM….
