Chiefs Take Opener over Wakefield 6-4

Malden, MA- Righty Zach Kirby went the distance, scattering three hits and striking out eight, when the Chiefs beat the Wakefield Merchants 6-4 on Monday night at Maplewood. It was the first win for Manager Steve Gambale.

Tony Serino (pictured) had a two RBI single in the second inning and Steve Passatempo, Mike Gedman and Matt Nuzzo drove in a run each for the Chiefs.

The three hits Kirby allowed were all doubles by Dillon Koster, Ryan Collins and Jake Nardone.

James McNamara worked into the sixth inning and took the loss.

The Chiefs are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Trum Field in Somerville to meet the Royals in a late 8:30 PM start.
