Posted by Amanda Patikowski at Aug 28, 2014 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Jarrod Harden has been teaching dance for over 15 years and is thrilled to be joining the faculty of Destined to Dance for the tenth anniversary season! Jarrod or “Mr. J” as his students call him, met Miss Amanda when they were dance majors at Montclair State University. Since that time, Jarrod served as Director of Applause Dance Studio in Cranford, NJ which led to him being Co-Founder of Fusion Dance Centre in Kenilworth, NJ.

Mr. J has danced in musical theatre and industrial shows all along the east coast and even on MTV. Since those days his passion shifted and he loves teaching students of all skill levels. Mr. J’s classes focus on technique given in a variety of ways but always with an emphasis on fun. He says, “I’ve found that students just absorb more when they’re working hard but also having a good time. And class is more enjoyable for me that way too!”

Ms. Julia began taking dance at age 6 and studied ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, and acrobatics. When she saw the competition team perform she fell in love and knew she wanted to be up there. Ms. Julia began competitive dance at age 8 and won regional and national awards. Based on her dancing at competitions, she was selected to perform with Team Rave NY. Ms. Julia danced in the Franklin High School Dance Program, where she was introduced to modern dance. Ms. Julia then went onto to Raritan Valley Community College continuing her studies of dance. She received her BA degree in dance at Rider University where she studied dance history, choreography and laban movement. She also studied ballet and modern through Princeton Ballet School, which Rider has a partnership with. While attending Rider she did student teaching at Princeton Ballet School and began her teaching career at a local dance studio. Ms. Julia has been teaching for 2 years and hopes to further her experience and dream of teaching other students everything she has learned and help them grow as dancers. She has a passion for dance and love for working with children. Ms. Julia is excited to have become a part of Destined to Dance’s staff.
