Last week of practice for tournament

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Mar 23, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We are in our final week of preparation for the SASF Tournament in Sacramento, here are a few reminders for the week.

Wed. 3/26 - Practice and scrimmage against the Honolulu All-Net NJB Team at 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the American Sports Center. The parking will be hard so please arrive early, you can always drop off and park. We will be having a light snack for our guests after practice, I'll bring the snacks if someone can volunteer to bring the drinks? Let me know?

Thurs. 3/27 - Final practice for the week from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Buena Park Boys and Girls Club off of Knott and the 91 freeway.

Please remember to tell your players that we will be carrying their tournament bag on the airplane. It should have in it their two jerseys. shorts, socks and shoes, shooting shirt and sweatswirt. For those that are driving please be sure to pack your tournament bags the same way. This way we will be sure not to forget anything for a game this weekend.

Let me know if you have any questions, we will be updating this site tomorrow as well with more information for this week.

Thanks,

Mark

Details for Final Week

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Mar 17, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

All plans look good on paper bur seldom work out the way you intended them to. We wanted to practice in the month of March at least twice a week or even three times per week to better prepare us for the SASF Tournament in Sacramento on 3/29 & 3/30.

With the final week approaching quickly we want everyone to know that we have solidified the practices before the tournament.

Friday 3/21 - We will practice at Mariners in Costa Mesa from 6:30-8:00 p.m., if those that can stay later we will continue to work on individual skills from 8:00-8:30 p.m., remember this practice is not mandatory but if you do not attend Friday you must attend Saturday. We will need at least 5 players for each day to be able to practice.

If you still want to attend Jason at 9:00 p.m. let me know as we are going to cancel his workout for this Friday 3/21 as well as next Friday 3/28 unless enough players want to go.

Saturday 3/22 - We will practice at Marina HS in Huntington Beach from 4:00-5:30 p.m., again you must attend either Friday or Saturday but if you can make both practices it will help your son with what we need to work on for Sacramento.

Wednesday 3/26 - We will be having a scrimmage at the American Sports Center in Anaheim from 5:30-6:30 p.m. against the 11U All-Net team from Honolulu, Hawaii. Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to stretch out and ready to go at 5:30 p.m. This will not be a full scrimmage but a controlled practice in which both teams can practice running their offensive plays and defensive sets against each other. They may only have 5 players for this day but we just want to meet them and to learn from them as well.

Thursday 3/27 - We will be practicing at the Buena Park Boys & Girls Club from 6:00-7:30 p.m. We are going to be walking through everything from tip drill, man to man offense, zone offense, zone inbounds plays, man to man inbound plays, sideline play, half court press, half court trap, free throws, etc. We don't want to be unprepared as we were in San Francisco last year against the BAAS Dragons team. We moved closer West helping those coming from the South Bay as well as those around Cerritos.

Let Jon or I  know if you have any questions regarding our schedule, we are trying to get the boys in as many practices as possible to prepare them for the 6th grade division up north.

Thanks again,

Mark

Final week before Sacramento

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Mar 16, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We are approaching the final week before heading to the SASF Tournament in Sacramento. The boys have worked hard to perfect our zone offense and it should be tested well up North. We have looked at everyones schedule so here is the tentative practice schedule up to Friday 3/28 when we all leave for Sacramento.

Friday 3/21 - Optional practice (need at least 5 players) gym and time TBD

Saturday 3/22 - Optional practice (need at least 5 players) if you didn't make it to Friday's practice, location will be at Marina HS in HB from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

If you can make both that would be great as we need to work on our inbounds play against the zone defense, we are real sloppy on this and could use the extra work. We now have both Indiana and Splitter (zone) to go with Line, Box and Triangle (man to man). I will also work with the players on their fundamentals and free throws if they come out.

Wednesday  3/26 - We are working with a 5th grade team from Hawaii who might scrimmage us for an hour, lacation and time are still being worked out as of today. They are here to play in the National NJB Tournament the same weekend as we are in Sacramento.

Thursday 3/27 - We are trying to secure a gym in Buena Park to help make the drive easier for Austin and Brad to walk through all our offenses, defenses, press breaks, traps, inbound and sideline plays, tip drill, etc. that we saw on Wed. that needs to be corrected.

Please check the web as we will have more information hopefully by tomorrow for time and locations.

Thanks,

Mark

Tournament Practice Schedule

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Mar 12, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Families,

Sorry this schedule is so late but I was out of town until last night and just trying to catch up with everything. Here is our practice schedule for the next week.

Friday - 3/14 optional workout at Jason's from 9:00-10:00 p.m. working on our defense.

Saturday - 3/15 at Marina HS from 1:00-2:30 p.m., this is also an optional practice, we are sharing a court so we will be working on shooting drills, inside drills, etc. Coach Scotty will be running practice as I will be a little coming from the SCCCC coordinating the JW Clinic this weekend, these clinics enable our team to get special times, prices, etc. that we would not get helping out Jason on a regular basis.

Friday - 3/21 optional workout at Jason's from 9:00-10:00 p.m. working on defense.

Sunday - 3/16 at Mariners in Costa Mesa, this is our weekly mandatory practice from 6:00-7:30 p.m., we will have the additional 30 minute training on individual skills from 7:30-8:00 p.m. if you can stay.

Saturday - 3/22 at Marina HS from 4:00-5:30 p.m., this will be our mandatory practice for the weekend as we will not be practicing on Easter Sunday.

We will be planning for one or two practices during 3/24 - 3/27 to do our last minute strategies for SASF. We are trying to secure gyms and might be different then normal as we need to get a practice during the week.

Let me know if you have any questions or cannot make any of the mandatory practices.

Thanks,

Mark
