Coach Dave Spitz

Posted by Mike Davis at Jan 17, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Events Coach - Throws (Shot Put and Discuss)

David took the reins of the Monte Vista Throws Program in the 2004 season.  Since that time, the throwers have won back to back league and NCS championships in the women’s disc and have sent two men to NCS in Men’s Shot.

David graduated from Monte Vista in 1995.  He threw all four years, capturing school records in both the Shot 58’1 and the disc 170’7.  David earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Southern California where he competed in Track and Field for the Trojans.  His first year at USC, David set a school record in the hammer throw for a freshman and earned a spot on the 1996 World Junior team.

David earned All-Pac 10 honors all four years and was nominated Team Captain his senior year.  David retired from the Throws in 2000 but now actively competes in Olympic Weightlifting.  He is currently ranked 5th in the US in his weight class and aspires to compete in China at the 2008 Olympic Games.
