Welcome to the 2006 Spikes 11U Webpage!

Well it has begun, Spikes 11U team has had its first practice! What a great group of young men we have assembled this year. Although it is early, we are looking forward to a great season of learning, having fun, and, oh yea, playing some baseball. The one thing we want everyone to know is no matter what the score board says, we are teaching life lessons. We want our players to know how to work hard for the things in life you want. With hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude you can accomplish any goal you set in life.

Playing sports helps us learn the lessons of life.

Do you have news, photos or info to add to the 11U site?
We encourage your input!
If you have something you would like considered to be added to our 2006 11U website, such as a picture, news article or just information, just contact our team manager, Scott Fleisher . He will present it to the website team, and if it can be used, it will be added to the site.

What Is A Champion?

A champion seeks to quench the thirst for victory on the field of play, in the classroom and in the game of life. A champion makes sacrifices that others will not, both on and off the field. A champion, without exception, never stops trying -no matter what the score, situation or circumstances. A Champion is a model person on the "team", in the classroom and in society. A champion is a team leader -always leading by example.

If you're looking for examples of real champions, then look no further than our Spikes Players. They are our finest examples.

Good Luck & Good Sportsmanship to all of the Spikes teams particpating in the upcoming 2006 baseball tournaments! ...and remember...always "Be A Champion" no matter what the "score"!

The 11U Southern Indiana Spikes enjoyed a great weekend of baseball and walked away as the 2006 Kentucky BPA 11U State Runners Up! The weekend started with an opening game against the Mt. Vernon Wildbats. The Spikes remembered an earlier loss dealt to them and avenged that loss with a commanding win, 12-3! What a great start!! The Spikes second round opponent turned out to be the Owensboro Nitro, a team that seems to give the Spikes fits on most occasions. The Spikes played tough, and with the help of a perfectly, orchestrated squeeze-play at the plate, tied the game in the sixth inning and went on to win 7-3! The Spikes once again found themselves in the Sunday afternoon Championship game aainst the Louisville Panthers. The Panthers squeaked out a close game and defeated the Spikes 5-3. This sent the two teams into the final game, with the Panthers holding on to a 7-4 lead and winning their second Kentucky BPA State Title. Great weekend guys! We will get one of these Championships! Thanks also to Jordan Messmer for playing with the Spikes this weekend!!image

Posted by Scott Fleisher at Jun 12, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The 11U officially kicked off the summer season with a strong Second Place finish in the Owensboro Memorial Day Bash. The Spikes started off the tourney with a win by defeating the Decatur County Cobras 8-4. Game two of the weekend was against the Kentucky Elite/Miken. The Spikes were once against victorious by a score of 9-3. The Centerville, OH Elks was opponent three for the 11U Spikes, the Spikes edged out a close game by a score of 9-8. These three wins put the Spikes in the Championship round on Sunday. However, a strong Centerville team came out of the loser's bracket to get on a roll, and defeat the Spikes with scores of 9-0 and 16-6. What a great effort by our 11U team. This tourney was a big confidence builder for the boys and hopefully of great things to come!! WAY TO GO SPIKES!! image

Food for Thought.......

That's My Boy! Please don't boo that boy down there. He is my son you see. He's only just a boy you know, he means a lot to me. I did not raise my son, dear fan, for you to call him names. He may not be a superstar, but these are youth baseball games. So please don't yell at those boys down there, they do the best they can. They never tried to lose a game, they're boys and you're a man. The game belongs to them, you see, you're really just a guest. They do not need a fan that gripes, they need the very best. If you have nothing nice to say, please leave the boys alone. And if you've forgotten your manners, then please just stay at home. So please don't boo those boys down there, each one's a parent's son, Win or lose or tie, you see, to us they're NUMBER ONE!
