On February 11, 2006, the Northside College Prep Varsity and Sophmore/Freshman Teams made their season debut in one of the most competitive indoor meets in the State. The meet was hosted by Track and Field powerhouse Evanston high school, and featured New Trier, Morgan Park, Stagg, Schaumburg, Danville and the Northside Mustangs. In the very first race of the day, Junior Patrick O'Connor opened up a lead for the Mustangs in the Varsity 4x800 Relay with a 2:14 800m. Senior Daniel Kittaka made a nice exchange, and maintained the lead with a 2:22 800m in the second leg of the 4x800m Relay. Senior Bobby Ziegler ran an outstanding 2:32 800m in the third leg of the 4x800m Relay. Senior Joseph Terdik anchored the 4x800m Relay to victory with a 2:20 800m in the final leg of the 4x800m Relay, for a final time of 9:28. VARSITY SEASON POINT LEADERS

Posted by Jon Gordon at Feb 10, 2006 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
VARSITY SEASON POINT LEADERS 1. Patrick O'Connor 7 2. Daniel Kittaka 6 3. Bobby Ziegler 4 4. Joseph Terdik 3 The above is the Varsity Season Point leaders through February 11, 2006. In our first meet, there were seven schools, so points were awarded to the top 8 finishers in each event only. Relay points scored were divided equally among all 4 athletes that participaied in the Relay. If you did not score a point in the first meet, do not worry about it. The most important statistic is the "PR" (Personal Record). If you talk to anyone of the above athletes, they will tell you that if you focus on running, jumping, or throwing your personal best every meet, and making it to every practice, you will see dramatic improvment, and points will take care of themself. All athletes that "PR" in any event in any meet will be awarded a starburst at the next practice. Our next meet is February 25, 2006 at Niles West High School.
The following is our Roster for the first meet only (Events entered will change every meet). The bus will leave on Saturday, February 11, 2006, at 9:45 am for Evanston High School. The meet will start at 11:00 am. Uniforms will be distributed on Friday, February 10, 2006 at practice. EVERYONE on the Boys Team will be competing in the meet. If you do not see your name listed anywhere, let Coach Gordon know. The host school has decided not to keep Team scores, because it is the first meet of the season, and was intended to be a small meet. Therefore, all Sophomores and Freshman will compete in the Sophomore/Freshman Division instead of the Varsity Division because points will not be a factor. However, I will keep track and give all athletes credit to their season totals for all points scored in the meet. If this meet was to be scored, the Top 8 places in each event would all qualify for points. The meet will feature 7 teams, Evanston, New Trier, Morgan Park, Stagg, Schaumburg, Danville, and the Northside College Prep Mustangs. We will be missing several key athletes in the first meet due to IHSA Wrestling Sectionals, Basketball tournament, Swimming City Championships, ACT Exam, and Family commitments. However, we will have a full team by our second meet. We will have a Team Huddle at 10:45 am. It is important for the Team energy levels to be high throughout the Meet, and we will be relying on our Field Events and 4x800 Meter Relay Teams to get us started. Go Mustangs!!!
