Every point scored is vital to the success of the TEAM. On several occassions the difference between winning a Conference, Sectional, and STATE title was a single point. The above athletes have all scored SOPHOMORE points this season.

On Saturday, February 10, 2018, the Marist Varsiy Men traveled to Evanston High School for a very special occassion and the first meet in the newly dedicated Willie May Fieldhouse. The night before the meet, the fieldhouse was dedicated to 1960 Olympic Silver Medalist and former Evanston Head Coach Willie May. The late Wille May coached Track and Field at Evanston for 45 years, and he won five IHSA State trophies, including the State Championship in 1979. Marist Head Coach Jon Gordon had known Willie May since he competed in high school Track, and raced in the same conference with among others, State Champion and future Evanston Olympian Robert Gary (1990).

Willie May always reserved a spot in his indoor invitationals for Gordon, and his squad. He was a great mentor to many coaches and athletes. Willie May also provided Hall of Fame Marist Hurdles and Jumps Coach Edward Wallace with Hurdles at Englewood High School, when he didn't have any Track and Field equipment.

Willie May was also the most modest Olympian in history. One time they announced over the loud speaker that 1960 Olympian and Evanston Head Coach Willie May was at the meet. His athletes ran up to him at the meet to confirm if the announcement was true. He had never told his squad of his Olympic feats. Willie May was a very special individual, and he helped out at Track meets long after he retired from coaching.

Evanston Head Coach Don Michelin contacted Marist Head Coach Jon Gordon in October 2017, and invited Gordon and the RedHawks to the special event. The meet was an outstanding experience for New Trier, Schaumburg, Marist, Morgan Park, Waukegan, and host Evanston Township High School.
