On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, the Chicago Marist Varsity Men and Sophomore-Freshman Boys Track Team traveled to Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois for the Spartan Indoor Classic.

The Spartan Indoor Classic featured Central Suburban league powers, Highland Park, and host Glenbrook North. The meet was completed very efficiently, and had non-stop action on the Track, which put the crowd on their feet at all times, and created a fun atmosphere for all participating Teams.

A special thanks to Glenbrook North Head Coach Sean Brandt, Assistant Coaches Steve Gross (38th year of coaching), Vincent, Kurtis, and Brown for hosting an outstanding meet.

It was also a very friendly atmosphere as several reunions took place throughout the meet. Marist Head Coach Jon Gordon attended Glenbrook North from 1986-1990, and is a member of their athletic college wall of fame. It was also great for Marist Coaches Gordon, Melto, and Wallace to have a reunion with Highland Park Sprints Coach Mark Morgan.

The meet was scored only on the Varsity level, in an effort to provide non-stop action on the track. The following point scale was used for individual events: 5-3-2-1, and 5-3 was used for scoring relays.

Spartan Indoor Champions for the RedHawks included: Steven Rowe (High Jump), Justin Williams (Long Jump), Brian Ferguson (400m), and Martin Smith (55m High Hurdles and 55m Low Hurdles).
