In 2018, the Marist RedHawks 4x100m Relay qualified for the IHSA State Track and Field Championships. For the first meet of the 2019 Track and Field season, the RedHawks featured Sophomore Jovan Marsh, Junior Keyon Turner, and Junior Antoine Davis from the 2018 IHSA State qualifying 4x100m relay. The depth of the RedHawks State qualifying relay became stronger at Rockford last Saturday.
Marist Freshman Tucker Miller ran a 10.90 100m dash in eighth grade.In his first high school race, Tucker Miller ran the second fastest 60m Dash time on the RedHawks Varsity with a personal best time of 7.49.
Marist Junior Antoine Davis also had an outstanding performance at Rockford with a 60m dash personal best time of 7.55.
Jovan Marsh, Tucker Miller, and Antoine Davis all had GREAT performances in the 60m dash. The best is yet to come.
The Marist RedHawks 4x100m and 4x200m Relays will be special in 2019.
The Rockford Auburn Jerry Lowe Invitational featured 60 athletes from 20 high schools in the 400m dash. Marist Junior Brian Ferguson ran a pure guts race to WIN the 400m Dash. Brian Ferguson exploded out of the blocks, and was the first runner to reach the break line. Marist Captain Brian Ferguson ran through the first 200m in 23 seconds, and finished with a season best time of 52.97 to WIN the 400m dash!
In his first Track and Field meet of the season, Brian Ferguson came within 0.75 of a second of his career best INDOOR 400m Dash time (52.22, 2018 Illinois Prep Top Times). Brian Ferguson was awarded a gold MEDAL for winning the 400m Dash at the Jerry Lowe Invitational.
