Knowling WINS Shot Put and ties for FIRST with Marsh in 200m! Ferguson and Miller 2nd and 3rd in 55m dash! Johnson 2nd in TJ! Leonard 3rd in 1600m!

 On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Marist Varsity Men traveled to Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Illinois for the Knights Invitational.

 The Track and Field Invitational featured Bradley-Bourbonnais, Marist, Oak Forest, Iliana Christian, Lincoln-Way West, and host Lincoln-Way Central High School.

 Lincoln Way Central won the Knights Invitational with 116 points

 The Marist RedHawks finished in SECOND place with 81 points, and posted victories over: 3. Andrew (78 points), 4. Lincoln Way West (62 points), 5. Oak Forest (52.50 points), 6. Bradley-Bourbonnais (44 points), and 7. Illiana Christian (12 points). Marist had a record of 5-1 on the day!

 Individual points were scored on the following scale: 10-8-6-4-2-1. 

 Relays were scored on the following scale: 10-8-6-4-2. 

 In the Varsity Shot Put, Senior Kendric Knowling won it with a throw of 42'0. Kendric Knowling was awarded a GOLD MEDAL for winning the Shot Put! Sophomore Josh Harris threw an outstanding 34'3.

 In the Varsity Triple Jump, Senior Tom Johnson finished in second place with a personal best triple jump of 39'2.50. Tom Johnson was awarded a SILVER MEDAL for finishing in second place!

 In the Junior Varsity Triple Jump, Sophomore Carter Auer finished in SECOND place with a personal best triple jump of 38'11.

 In the Varsity High Jump, Senior Eric Teverbaugh jumped a personal best 4'8. 

 In the Varsity Long Jump, Junior Brian Ferguson finished in FIFTH place with an outstanding jump of 18'6.5. Sophomore Jamari Grant finished in 12th place with a jump of 15'11.

 In the Junior Varsity Long Jump, Sophomore Carter Auer finished in FOURTH place with a leap of 17'9

 In the Varsity 4x800m Relay, Marist Freshman Brendan Geary (2:29.26), Junior Peter Derdzinski (2:30.26), Sophomore Tommy Kavanaugh (2:29.26), and Junior Anthony Johnson (2:37.42) finished in FIFTH place with an official time of 10:07.60. 

 In the Junior Varsity 4x800m Relay, Marist Freshman Luke Bruin (2:38.00), Freshman Jake Phillips (2:37.00), Senior Andres Castillo (2:34.00), and Nick Vallie (2:34.09) finished in FOURTH place with an official time of 10:23.60. 

 In the Varsity 3200m run, Marist Senior Lucas Pennix finished in THIRD place with an official time of 11:09.80. Lucas Pennix was awarded a BRONZE MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. Marist Junior Luke Hortsman finished in SIXTH place to complete the scoring with an official time of 11:39.50. 

 In the Varsity 55m High Hurdles, Marist Senior Tom Johnson finished in SIXTH place overall with a personal best time of 9.00. Marist Sophomore Josiah Harris tied for 8th place with a personal best time of 9.50. 

 In the Varsity 55m Dash, Marist Junior Brian Ferguson finished in SECOND place with an outstanding time of 6.60. Brian Ferguson was awarded a SILVER MEDAL for finishing in second place overall. Marist Freshman Tucker Miller tied for THIRD place with a personal best time of 6.70. Tucker Miller was awarded a BRONZE MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. The RedHawks scored 13 points in the 55m dash! 

 In the Varsity 800m run, Marist Freshman Andrew Kerlin finished in SIXTH place to complete the scoring with a personal best time of 2:13.30. Marist Senior Alexis Arreola finished in seventh place with a season best time of 2:14.50

 In the Varsity 4x200m Relay, Marist Sophomore Jovan Marsh, Freshman Tucker Miller, Freshman Michael Coy, and Junior Brian Ferguson finished in THIRD place with an outstanding time of 1:38.40. Jovan Marsh, Tucker Miller, Michael Coy, and Brian Ferguson were awarded BRONZE MEDALS in the 4x200m Relay. 

 In the Junior Varsity 4x200m Relay, Marist Sophomore Nick Coccaro, Senior Tom Johnson, Junior Antoine Davis, Junior Kivonte Houston WON it with an outstanding time of 1:41.70. Nick Coccaro, Tom Johnson, Antoine Davis, and Kivone Houston were awarded BLUE RIBBONS for winning the 4x200m Relay.

 In the Varsity 400m dash, Marist Sophomore Jamari Grant finished in SIXTH place to complete the scoring with an official time of 56.70. Marist Junior Anthony Johnson finished in eighth place with a personal best time of 58.40. 

 In the Varsity 1600m run, Marist Junior Thomas Leonard finished in THIRD place with an INDOOR personal best time of 4:34.00. Thomas Leonard was awarded a BRONZE MEDAL for finishing in third place overall. Marist Sophomore Kevin Bugos BROKE THE FIVE MINUTES BARRIER to finish in FIFTH place with a personal best time of 4:56.30. The RedHawks scored 8 points in the 1600m run! The five minutes barrier is the bench mark for elite high school milers. 1978 State Champion and Dyestat Illinois Reporter Michael Newman publishes an ongoing list throughout the season of all the sub five minutes runners in the State of Illinois, which now includes Marist Junior Thomas Leonard (4:34.00), Sophomore Kevin Bugos (4:56.30), and Freshman Andrew Kerlin (4:56.32).

 In the Varsity 200m dash, Marist Senior Kendric Nowling and Sophomore Jovan Marsh tied for FIRST place with an outstanding time of 24.70. Kendric Nowling and Jovan Marsh were awarded GOLD MEDALS for winning the 200m dash. The RedHawks scored 18 points in the 200m dash! 

 In the Junior Varsity 4x400m Relay, Marist Freshman Brendan Geary (61.63), Freshman Kyle Quinn (64.06), Freshman Luke Bruin (69.52), and Freshman Michael Golden (64.70) finished in sixth place with an official time of 4:19.90.

 In the Varsity 4x400m Relay, Marist Senior Alexis Arreola (56.75), Senior Lucas Pennix (62.81), Freshman Michael Coy (60.08), and Freshman Andrew Kerlin (63.89) finished in FOURTH place with an official time of 4:03.80.
