In Saturday's first game at the Beaver Bash, a sluggish Hurricane start resulted in a 5-2 loss to Power (Hanlon). Pool game #2 was a nine-hit Hurricane performance, an 8-2 win over the Fairview Flames. Hurricane game #3 was a 13-hit attack on the Washington Wildfire for a 6-1 victory. Another Hurricane first-place pool finish!
Elimination round: A 12-hit Hurricane performance allowed a seventh-inning comeback to tie the Vipers, but the Hurricane gave up one run to the Vipers as the rain-soaked ball affected play at the start of the international tiebreaker.
Then the rain stopped for the Hurricane batters - giving a lift to the Viper defense. As the bases were loaded with Hurricane runners, the final out of the game came at home on a tag-up scoring attempt. Final score: Vipers 4, Hurricane 3.
2 wins vs. 2 losses left the team disappointed, but the Hurricane bats came alive - a fine hitting performance to go along with the tough Hurricane defense!
