Another Fast Start Puts Away Bothell 11-0

Posted by Rob OFarrell at May 7, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

We jumped a Bothell squad that was emotionally and physically spent from a thrilling extra-inning win over Ballard the night before, scoring 10 runs the first three innings, and finishing it in six.

Sara led of the game with a single, putting her on base exactly one billion times this season (we'll have to check the numbers to be sure but that sounds about right).  She swiped second, took third on a short passed ball, and an out later hypnotized the third baseman, who fielded Katie's hard grounder cleanly, looked at Sara, looked to first..........looked back at Sara inching towards home...........then looked back to see Katie blowing past first base.  Everybody safe.  Lauren walked, Cat hit a sacrifice fly to score Sara, and back-to-back doubles by Alex and Maria made it 4-0 before everyone was in their seats.

We scored another two in the second and four more in the third, when Mak became the fourth Falcon this year to put a ball over the fence.

Maria had 11 strikeouts and gave up only two hits, and added another double.

The win ran our record to 16-1 and clinched a tie for the Division Title.

OUCH! Falcons Drop One to Lake Washington

Posted by Rob OFarrell at May 1, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Lake Washington's great Sara Asness shut us out for 6 innings and hung on to beat us 4-2 for the first loss of the season April 21st.

LW scored all their runs in the 5th inning and Sara dug herself out of jams all night long.

The Falcons showed their spirit with a two-run rally in the last inning, scoring two runs on hits by Emily, Mak and Katie.  But it wasn't to be.

Falcons Mash Again To Mercy Roosevelt

Posted by Rob OFarrell at May 1, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

On a warm Friday afternoon the Falcon bats went red-hot, as we beat Roosevelt 12-1 April 16th.

The battery of Maria and Katie had three hits apiece, and Maria pitched another dominating game.   Jade made her first career start as a Falcon and played solid defense at second base.

Virtually every Falcon starter had a hit or an rbi or both.   Madi tripled and Keelin doubled, and Keelin did some emergency fill-in at third.

Falcons Stay Hot Against Redmond

Posted by Rob OFarrell at May 1, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Redmond Mustangs drew first blood against the Falcons, then had it spilled all over them as we put the game away in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to an 11-2 win on Mom's Night, April 19th.

Redmond came out swinging and had two runs in with the bases jammed and only one out in the top of the first.  From the Redmond dugout someone shouted "They're scared now!".  Uh, no.  A grounder to Cat forced the out at home, Maddie struck out the next batter and we were up for our half of the first.

Redmond's lead lasted four batters.

Sarah got on when the third baseman rushed her throw and drug the first baseman off the bag.   Mak singled and Katie doubled, bringing up Lauren, who hit the first pitch she saw into orbit over the center field fence.  When the dust settled on the inning, we were up 6-2 and the rout was on.

Maddie overpowered Redmond the rest of the way and we scored five more times for the 11-2 final.
