Lady Falcons Win KingCo Championship 5-2

Posted by Rob OFarrell at May 16, 2011 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Our Lady Falcons continue their march into the State Championship by beating Eastlake last night 5-2 in the KingCo Championship game which secures a berth for Woodinville back to the State Championship tournament.

Sara Anderson led off the top of the first with a hit and was moved around and scored by a rocket base hit by our co-captain Katie Engelbrecht to make it 1-0.

Great pitching by Madi Schreyer had the Eastlake bats off for most of the night until the 5th where Eastlake was able to get a couple runs off a couple hits which tied the score 2-2 going into the 6th inning.

Woodinville bounced back in the top of the 6th with a clutch base hit by Nicole Versace and Sara Anderson and with two outs Kayla O'Farrell delivered a hit to score Shelby Yasuda (pinch running for Nicole) to make it a 3-2 ballgame.   Standing at second and third were Kayla and Sara when our co-captain Makenna Weir stepped in and drilled one to the fence for a double to score two more runs and make it a 5-2 game.

Madi Schreyer then came out and delivered the goods by striking out the last batter with the bases loaded to seal the KingCo Championship for our Lady Falcons!

Lady Falcons bury Inglemoor 14-0

Posted by Rob OFarrell at May 13, 2011 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

In a game of consistent pounding of the ball, Woodinville pumped out 14 runs on 21 hits with Madi Schreyer going yard twice.  Lauren Burchak and Kayla O'Farrell pounded out doubles and nearly every Lady Falcon got into the offense either delivering an RBI or solid hit.  Madi was on a roll with the rock as well handing out 10K's on 5 hits and no runs.

This was Woodinvilles 13th shutout of the year.  Now on to the KingCo Championship game on Monday!

There was a scary moment in the 5th when a hard hit line drive by Nicole got up on Taylor Peacocke at third base deflecting off her mit into her stomach.  Medics arrived to take her to the hospital but she is going to be ok with quite a bruise.  The Lady Falcons are thankful for that and wish her well.

After going 19-0 with 13 shutouts, the Lady Falcons Fastpitch team ranked #1 in 4A Washington State and #40 in the ESPN Fab 50 nationally are just now dropping into the fast lane with sights on their ultimate goal.

The Lady Falcons next step towards their ultimate goal of a State Championship is Monday in the KingCo Championship Game at 7pm at Hartman Park in Redmond.  This game puts KingCo Crest Division Winner WHS vs KingCo Crown Division Winner Eastlake HS.  The winner of this game is guaranteed a berth to State as either the #1 seed or #2 seed coming out of KingCo.
