News and Announcements

One of the best days of the year for sure.  All the future Lady Falcons hit the field with their bats, mits, smiles and dreams to whip it up with the Varsity and JV for a day of fun and learning.  In the end the Lady Falcons probably took away more than the little leaguers!

Thanks to Diana Davey Boyd and Jessica Smith and Danielle Weir for getting this together and hosting! Great weather and a great day.

Enjoy some pictures from our elite cameraman Sir Mark Hatlen!

With about 50 Little Leaguers there last night our Lady Falcons had plenty of voices of cheer and support though it was not to be as Redmond jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after two innings and never looked back.   After years of breaking the hearts of Redmond fans, it was their turn last night as they simply put on a clinic of hitting and speed putting up 9 runs on our home field.

We were able to get things finally going in the fourth when Alena Jones got on base and Alyssa O'Farrell drove her in with a line drive triple.  Alyssa was able to come in and score on a wild pitch to get the Lady Falcons to within 4 runs at the time.

There were some great diving plays by Kathryn Hatlen at third base and Jordan Boyd at catcher to save some additional runs.

The crowd was never down as our future Falcons were having a ton of fun with prizes between each inning and having an opportunity to do some announcing on the PA system.  Lots of smiles and running the bases helped with the sting of the loss after the game.

Our Lady Falcons dug a pretty deep hole through two innings to find themselves down 6-0 on some unusually sloppy play and it hadn't even started raining ... yet.  After Issaquah put up 4 in the first with some help by our defense and 2 in the second on a two run home run the skies opened up and our girls dug in for a fight.

Rain started pelting down and the Lady Falcons bats got going in the third with Nicole Shavlik hitting a nice two out, two RBI double using her speed to get the Lady Falcons to within 3 at 6-3.  Over the next few innings balls were being belted all over the field by Jordan Boyd and others but right at Issaquah defenders.  Bats were alive...we just needed the shots to find some green grass instead of opponents mits!

Olivia Riener had settled in after the second and let her defense go to work shutting down Issaquah with crafty pitching and some great defense led by senior Tori Lettus on a line drive catch collision to end a rally, a nice double play by Taylor Rhinehart line drive catch over to Alyssa O'Farrell digging it out of the dirt to end another rally.   Nicole snagged a home-run crashing into the fence and Alena Jones with an over the head runner in deep right field to stop potential other runs from scoring.

Final at bats had Maggie Loyet leading off and being hit in by Alyssa to close the gap to 6-4.   But it wasn't to be as our ladies just didn't have enough time to get the balls where Issaquah wasn't.  They dug deep and rallied but the hole they dug early was too much to overcome.  It will be a good lesson learned heading into the meat of the season and onto KingCo Playoffs.

Woodinvlle Blanks Bothell 5-0

Posted by Rob OFarrell at Apr 20, 2014 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

One of the most anticipated matchups each year pits Woodinville vs Bothell and this year we kicked it off at their house.  The Lady Falcons kept the pressure on each inning with their offense and behind some great pitching by Olivia Riener going the distance and giving up only one hit, they came away with a 5-0 wallup in front of happy Falcon fans and disappointed Cougar fans.

The Lady Falcons got things going in the 2nd behind hits by Maggie Loyet and Alena Jones, who led the Lady Falcons going 3 for 4 with two singles and a double for the evening.  After a fielders choice on Alyssa O'Farrell and a walk by Kathryn Hatlen,  a spinner infield hit by Olivia was too much to handle for the Cougar secondbaseman and we scored two to put us up 2-0.

In the the 4th inning after back to back to back hits by Maggie, Alena and Alyssa, Kathryn sent a nice line drive single to right center for 2RBI's and put the Lady Falcons up 4-0.

Olivia stayed strong going after each batter with either a strike out, easy put out or some great defense behind her by Tori Lettus snagging a couple of hard shots and Alyssa too grabbing a few balls tagged her way.

In the end the Lady Falcons pushed another run across to make it 5-0 behind a roped double over left fielder by Alena and in the bottom of the 7th Olivia got the final outs 1-2-3.

The Lady Falcons made quick work of Garfield last night in a 5 inning shutout 11-0 behind solid pitching by Kathryn Hatlen.  Woodinville put runs up in each inning except the 2nd with Kathryn, Olivia Riener and Katie Kelly each with two hits.  Bailey Hicks got into the action in the 3rd with a bases clearing smashed double.
