Falcons cause a "Hitquake"

Posted by Lynn Varney on Mar 21 2007 at 05:00PM PDT in 2019 JV
Well this Inside Reporter is at a loss for words after witnessing what happened Wednesday night against The Franklin Quakers at Falcon Field in game three of the 2007 season.
As you read along please note that there are no typo's, I've proof read this over and over. The numbers are correct.
Lead off hitter Maggie Wagner was 8 for 10 hitting for the Cycle, scored 8 times and had 8 RBI's! For those of you that don't know what the "Cycle" is, it's when a hitter has a single, double, triple and Homerun in the same game. Maggie reached base safely in every AB.
#2 hitter Devan McComb also hit for the cycle and added an extra HR going 6 for 10 scoring 7 times and finished with 10 RBI's.
#3 hitter Lauren Hamilton reached base safely in every AB going 8 for 8 with 2 base on balls and 4 two baggers, scored 9 times and had 7 RBI's.
#4 hitter Tobey Varney also reached base safely all night going 8 for 9 scoring 9 times and knocking in 4 fellow Falcons. Tobey also secured the win on the mound pitching the first 3 innings striking out 8 and walking 1. Tobey is now 2-0 on the season
#5 hitter Ashley Tuiasosopo went "yard" twice (for you novice fans "yard" means out'a here, longball. went deep, fly fly away, HOMERUN) while going 7 for 8, scoring 7 times and knocking 9 birds of prey across the plate.
Starters Cacia Pierre, Lindsey Sullivan, Zoe Thiemann and Jamie Stivala were given the rest of the night off after their first 2 AB's in the first inning. They combined to go 5 for 8 scoring 7 runs and knocking in 5.
Kaaren Hatlen was 5 for 8 scored 5 times and pushed 6 runs across. Kaaren finished the game in the circle pitching the final two innings striking out 5 of 6. This reporter was very impressed with this youngsters pop!
The falcon future is bright in the circle.
Sarah Hendry was 5 for 7 hitting from both sides of the plate, scoring 5 times and forcing 4 Falcons home to score.
Leftfielder Jennell Lottinville was 5 for 6 scoring 3 times and showed some nice power driving in 4 Falcon runners.
Word has it that the game ball was given to this next player not just based on tonights performance but for the standard of hard work she shows everyday and the will to get better and it certainly showed tonight as she went 4 for 5 scoring 5 times and bounding 6 Falcon's across the dish. Way to go Rachael Ricker!
When it was all said and done the final numbers for the Falcon hurlers were, 5 innings pitched, 13 strikeouts, 2 BB and 0 hits. A split NO-NO for Tobey and Kaaren.
On the offensive side, 65 runs on 60 hits (12 doubles, 3 triples and 6 longballs)
The one impression this reporter will take from this game about the Woodinville Falcons is that they are a class act! They stopped aggressive play after the first 7 runs in the first inning and didn't make a mockery of the game by "intentionally" getting out. The Quakers earned their outs and the Falcons earned their hits.
But I will say the WIAA needs to implement a new mercy rule. This did not need to go 5 innings to be official and both teams would have liked to have ended this long before it did, I am sure( 2 1/2 hours later )  I don't think the scorekeeper would have minded either!
My hat also goes off to the Franklin squad for never giving up in what was a very long no win situation.
Sorry but this reporters head is still spinning and it's late! So look to the schedule to see who the Birds play next, this Friday.
**Ahh one more note, word has it Amanda Harris is coming along real well from a slightly torn hammy. Doc says, about two more weeks. Hurry back Harry we miss ya!
GO GO GO Falcons!
