THE INSIDE REPORT:

Well this "inside reporter" told you not to miss this one and if you did, your loss! The Falcons hosted their cross town rivals Bothell Cougers in what had to be the best show in town! The Falcons looked like they might take a quick 2 nothing lead in their half of the first when Devan McComb tripled and Lauren Hamilton went deep down the left field line.......just foul. The game remained scoreless thru four innings when it looked like the cougars would strike first. Bothell's Mary Watson dropped a sinking line drive down the right field line that right fielder Ashley Tuiasosopo made a diving stab for. She slowed it down just enough for a hustling Maggie Wagner (2nd baseman) to run down. With Watson trying to stretch the double into a three bagger, Maggie gunned her down from shallow right field with a perfect throw to Lindsay Sullivan waiting at third. Rally was dead before it got started!

In the bottom of the 5th the Falcons started their own fireworks. Team Captain Ashley started things with a line drive to right center. This brought Cacia Pierre to the plate who preceded to lay down the perfect Sac Bunt moving Tui to 2nd. Then Lindsay Sullivan ripped a 1-2 pitch to center, really "too hard" to where Tui had to hold at third. With runners at 1st & 3rd and Zoe Thiemann coming to the plate the situation was begging for some Falcon magic, and with the count 0-1 to Zoe, it happened! The deadly squeeze bunt was so perfect it not only scored Tui but was a base hit . Falcons 1 Cougars 0.

But the fireworks weren't done, With Sullivan now sitting on third and Zoe stealing second on the first pitch, Jamie Stivala crushed a linedrive to right which cougs right fielder, Ashley Thomas, made a nice catch to keep Sullivan at third. Then came Maggie Wagner to the plate who's adrenalin had to still be pump'n from the defensive play in the top half of the inning. She ripped the first pitch for a base hit to score Lindsay. Falcons 2 Cougs 0.

In the bottom half of 6 the Falcons threatened again when SS Tobey Varney, who was tough at the plate all night, ripped a single and stole second, but that was the end as a strike out and a pop up would end the rally. The 2 runs would prove to be all Devan McComb would need to secure the win in the circle. She was absolutely awesome giving up only 3 hits and striking out 11 and showed great composure under the lights at Falcon field.

They may be young, but this reporter likes what's happening out there. The 2-0 Falcons next meet up with the Eastlake Wolves this coming Monday @ 4pm at Eastlake, another young athletic team. Could be another "Blockbuster"

DON'T MISS THIS ONE! GO FALCONS!!
