THE HOMER SPOILED THE LATE GAME RALLY FOR SHS, LED BY JEFF DOUGHERTY'S 2 OUT RIP WHICH GAVE THE CHARGERS A 4-3 LEAD IN THE TOP HALF OF THE INNING.

THIS YEAR SHOULD BE NOTHING LESS THAN STELLAR WITH THE DEFENDING GMC COUNTY/RED DIVISION CHAMPION BEARS, DEFENDING THE CUP WON LAST YEAR, AND THE 3-TIME BLUE DIVISION CHAMPION CHARGERS.  BOTH TEAMS HAVE BEEN COUNTY RANKED ALL YEAR, AND THIS LOOKS TO BE A CLASSIC IN THE MAKING.

FERRONE

FAREWELL & BEST WISHES COACH FERRONE
BY THE GURU

AS WE PREPARE FOR ANOTHER SEASON OF EXCITING CHARGER BASEBALL, OUR BOYS WILL TAKE TO THE FIELD TOMORROW WITHOUT ONE OF ITS' FAVORITE BROTHERS.  COACH CHRIS FERRONE WILL BEGIN ANOTHER CHAPTER IN HIS COACHING CAREER AT POINT PLEASANT BORO HIGH SCHOOL IN OCEAN COUNTY TOMORROW AS WE BEGIN OUR 2006 CAMPAIGN AT SHS. HE WILL BE THE VARSITY ASSISTANT AT POINT BORO THIS YEAR.

ALTHOUGH HE WAS ONLY AT "THE WOOD" FOR 2 SHORT YEARS, COACH FERRONE UNDOUBTEDLY PUT HIS STAMP ON THIS PROGRAM FOR YEARS TO COME.  INVOLVED WITH THE CURRENT STAFF FOR HIS 2ND SEASON AT SHS, HE HAS WITHOUT QUESTION MADE AN IMPRESSION ON EVERYONE HE WAS AROUND, INCLUDING YOURS TRULY.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT COACH FERRONE MADE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT NORMAL "JV" COACHES DON'T MAKE.  IT COULD BE ANYTHING FROM TECHNIQUES, TO DRILLS, TO X'S AND O'S, OR TOUGH DECISIONS THAT COME WITH THE TERRITORY, IT DIDN'T MATTER.  FERRONE WAS SOMEONE WHO I LEANED ON TREMENDOUSLY AND HE NEVER LET ME, OR THE BOYS DOWN.

IN CLOSING, WE SHOULD ALL BE THANKFUL THAT WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A COACH LIKE MR. FERRONE, AND ONLY TOMORROW WILL WE REALLY FEEL THE IMPACT OF NOT HAVING HIM ON STAFF.  HOWEVER, POINT BORO WILL BENEFIT FROM HAVING A FINE NEW ADDITION TO THEIR STAFF, AND HIS KNOWLEDGE AND DEDICATION WILL BE A BLESSING TO HIS NEW ORGINIZATION.

FROM EVERYONE AT SPOTSWOOD HS:

GOOD LUCK FERRONE!
